USBC's Decisions

Maybe they realized they were rushing into things. The proposals they passed shouldn't affect "cost" of bowling equipment much if at all.

FINALLY something good has come from bowlers and ball manufacturers coming together!!!

Excaliber,

Until we know exactly what falls out IF they implement their new Moh's hardness scale of 6, we won't really know what they are trying to "mess with" up this time.

Almost everyone assumes it's a good thing. Knowing this was yet another committee decision by people whose common bowling sense we have already doubted, I, for one, will reserve judgement.

I read in one of the other threads on this subject that very few current balls would be affected by the hardness rule.

If it's just the "hardness" then they can put lots of particles whose hardness is just below "6" (whatever "6" is) to make the ball grab as hard or harder or wear the lane surface more than fewer particles of hardness greater than "6".

Charles...

I thought the same thing...oh well. I need to learn more about the scale to understand what they are saying and meaning.

Clint,

Check out this topic under the Brunswick forum (OK,calm down; just this once). Someone has a scale of some minerals and Tom Tomaras has said, according to one person there, that Brunswick's particles are under the "6" Moh's rating.

I beginning to think that only Lanemaster's/Legend's diamonds particles fail the new USBC test. ("should fail", is my guess; not that I want them to fail.)
Diamonds are, after all, one of the hardest natural elements.
