GP-2 & Animal Side by Side
Hi everyone, just wanted to give everyone a little update on the 2 newest additions to my bag. I picked up a used Animal from Clint and picked up a brand new GP-2 from Rick.
Side by side, these balls were drilled by Rick and layouts are almost identical.
Here are the specs
GP-2 (15lbs)
Top weight = 3 oz.
Pin = 3 in.
Surface = Out of Box
Layout = 4 1/2 pin x 3 3/4 mb
Weighthole 6 1/4 inches over and 1/2 down from grip center
1 1/8 drill bit and 2 inches deep (just a guess on the drill bit size)
Drilled Pin next to ring finger and MB almost on VAl

We chose this layout for an earlier roll. I needed something for Heavy Oil. Boy did this ball shine at the National Bowling Stadium. I averaged only 202 with the ball for 5 games, but I was satisfied with the reaction I got out of the ball. Synthetic lanes with Out of Bounds From around 10 board to the gutter. Inside 10 board around the 45 foot breakpoint was touchy. Ball would hit nose if you got inside with no speed. Ball would skid if you tried to go around the dry and end up in the OOB. I made a drastic move and started the ball around 20-25 boards (5th & 4th arrow) at the arrows and hit around 12 down at the breakpoint. Boy this ball cut through the Head Oil very clean and revved through the midlane. This ball was very rolly and boy I tell you, the way this ball reacted off the dry like it was a Reactive rather than Particle.
I tried this ball at home on Thursday before I left for Reno on Sunday, but it needed some head oil as the lanes were toast. Also tried this ball at Rick's house on Friday which is Synthetic before I left. Medium Oil-Heavy Fresh Shot with slight OB around the gutter and clean backends. This ball would rev up alot and just make a very strong turn. I've never seen a ball react like this in Oil. Even with the Early Forward Roll drilling, this thing still Arced very strongly. I'm impressed.
Still waiting to see what this ball could do on the Floods or on a Flat Oil pattern.
Gotta get back to work so I'll give you guys an update on the ANIMAL later!
Thanks to Rick, Clint, Ex, Achappy, & everyone else for the great suggestions!
