Finally got a chance to throw a few games with the new Crash...
Layout: 4 5/8 x 4 5/8, 3/8 pos side, 1/8 finger, pin 1 inch above ring and cg directly lined up 2 inches below ring(stacked).
Oil: Bowled after first shift was done, 28ft(double oil) buffed to 40, backs start clean but carry down some afterwards. Shot is blended from 5 board inward to 20, outside 5 is now lite OB, ABC has made sure of that but basically the shot has moved into track area.
Lined up at 29, hit 13-14 at the arrows to about 9-10 at the breakpoint right around 45ft down. The ball cleared the heads easily with a good midlane read and finished with a very smooth backend reaction, not jumpy at all. It carried very well considering that it didn't have a lot of entry angle. If I stayed on the oil line too long, it did leave some 10's but when I missed right, it didn't jump off the dry. It stayed out there and recovered with a stronger arcing motion then before and carried very well.
I chose to try this pattern because I had my Voodoo drilled 4.5x3 and because of my slower ball speed, I did seem to encounter some over/under(O/U) at times. This layout on the Crash gave me no indication of that at all. I personally am very pleased with this reaction and highly recommend it(or something similar) to slower ball speed players or to those who I define as true mid to stronger tweeners. This layout definitely helps keep the ball under control with very good hitting power.

Rick is their any real noticeable difference between this ball and the Ti Messenger pearl or B/S/P. We have sold a ton of them up here and recently we have been pushing the Crunch Time as a replacement but the crash looks almost exact.

Hi Lefty,
I'm trying to remember what the B/S/P did. I want to say that the B/S/P had a little more backend but I never did put this pattern on it either, only drilled a few. I'd tend to agree with you a fair amount because another BR member here that I was helping, decided on drilling his Crash 3x5 and he gets great backend from it. So, I think you're kind of right, other then the Ti insert, they probably are pretty close in reaction. Sorry I'm not a lot of help here because I didn't drill that many BSP's, so I don't feel that I can really make a fair comparison....

Leftyhi-trak,
Is the Crash (a polished solid) that flippy that its ball path looks like those Columbia pearls?
On a personal note, few balls seem to have the pin-moving power that that silly-assed Ti nugget (Messenger Ti series) seems to give a ball.

Lefty, the b/s/p seems to have much more backend than the Crash. There is a bowler in my center that just swears by the b/s/p, and it moves a ton in the backend for him. The Crash seems smoother overall.
Hope this helps....

My Crash is layed out pin above ring Cg kicked 1" rt of center.
This ball definatly makes a hard flip when it hits the dry.
just my 2 cents!!

Thanks for the replies. I have someone who is looking for less backend (over/under) then his BSP but likes the hook shape he gets from it. Charlest you always loved the covers on the Col pearls.LOL I might take a little surface off it as it is a solid and give him a good one-two.

Rick,
Great review. I look forward to getting more info from you on this ball with broken down shots. Thanks!

Got a chance yesterday to play with the Crash some more. After getting some feedback from people about how strong the backend was on this ball, I decided to see for myself. I tried it on the same condition mentioned above except carrydown was a little heavier this time. Oil line was about 12 a little heavier and the backends were a little tighter.
I was still able to go down the outside boards with ease and have the ball return strongly to the pocket like before. Only this time, I had 3 other guys with me and it carried down even more and I started to leave corners. Tried moving right but the shot became a little O/U, started going thru the nose trying to play too tight. So then I decided to hit the ball some, let me tell you, I finally saw the backend the other guys were talking about. By the time I lined up, I was about 10-12 left with my feet and about 3-4 with target. I had to play the O/U standing left and throwing right with a cupped wrist(from broken position up 12) and let her rip. The Crash just went down about 45-46 feet and screamed back to the hole and struck. It shocked the heck out of me cause I didn't think this ball could really do that much or rather that I could
. It was pretty impressive to see the ball respond this well. Didn't know it could do that with a few extra revs.
Another plus added for this review is that it's more versatile then I thought. Very nice ball to add to the bag guys...I also now realize how much hand I DON'T have anymore...it's he!! getting old..lol
