i just picked up a used crunch are there anyone that still throws one?and what balls out now is it comparable to?thanks billy

When I had my Slash with the box finish I thought it was alot like the Crunch...and the Havoc. The Crunch was a smooth ball that could work "OK" in oil and it would control strong backends. MUCH like the Slash for me.

The Crunch for me was a very even ball. The ball read the lanes great and hit hard, but as Ex stated, it was not the best ball in oil. There were and are better choices out there right now.

Clint, I have a question on these balls as well. Of the Havoc and Crunch, which ball would work better on a fresh house shot with medium oil? Also, once the lanes begin to break down and the shot dries up, would the crunch be a better ball to go up the boards. Thanks.

The Havoc is a good ball for the mediums. If you have some backend, then this ball will probably work on a normal medium house pattern. The Crunch would be a ball to switch to when the heads start to go, but it is a dull reactive, so a cover change may be needed as well to help it get down the lane without rolling early. Also, it depends what your game is. Up the boards, swing, or both. The Crunch Time may be a better choice than the Crunch due to the little more length you will see out of the CT (at least it gave me more length than other dull reactives).
