Damnimal!!!
« on: May 13, 2005, 01:41:35 AM »
I have my Animal at 800 grit, pin above/right of ring with MB right of thumb and was bowling on a fresh medium-hvy, long THS.  Last night, this ball was snapping on the back like my Apocalypse or my Retro Blue -- I've never seen it like this before!!  It would break, and, at the last second would snap a little more going way high.  On one shot, I hit the head pin and left 6!!!  How in the world to you leave the 3,4,6,7,9,10?!?!?  Luckily, I had bowled on the wrong lane ....It was cool to see all the movement, but can I really afford to keep rolling 138/155 because of all the splits I'm leaving?!?!

Nollster.....

KOTM dropped my ring finger a touch deeper to shorten the core of my Animal a little bit, and that took that last second "snap" out of mine...now I like it MUCH MUCH BETTER !!!!!!!

Hey Nollster,

Jeffrevs offers a very good suggestion.  You can shorten the core and lower the differential as it also helps remove some finger weight (or add thumb) at the same time.  Another thought may be to take it down to 600 for a little rougher cover so it can actually grab a little sooner and not store as much energy on the back.  Based on your leaves, the backends sound very clean.  The grittier finish should still easily be able to finish well for carry.  Hope this helps...

Nollster, I would put an weight hole on your PAP.  That should mellow out the backend and make it more controllable.

GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

Jeff -
Do you mean shortened span or drilled the hole deeper?  I think I'll try the 600 first and see how well it smooths it out...

Hey Nollster,

I'm sure KOTM drilled the finger deeper as that would shorten the core which then lowers the differential.  By lowering the diff (which dictates flare), the overall hook potential of the ball will be decreased and should react a little more evenly. Hope this helps explain some..
