Which Track Ball vs The Storm Depth Charge
« on: January 04, 2006, 04:16:26 PM »
Which Track Ball is similar to the Storm Depth Charge in low RG, Differential, Torque, Length, Hook, etc. In other words if I took a Storm Depth Charge with a 2" Pin and drilled it Pin under RF and CG out 2" to 2 1/2" exactly like one I used to have which worked really GREAT, which Track ball would be very similar to that ball and perform as good or better?

Six,

Good comparison with the TT.  As far as todays balls are concerned, do you think that the Arsenel Angular would fit or Xception 5.0 being that they are particle pearls?  Where is Mr. Leong when you need him?

In my opinion, a shined up Arsenal Reactive would be close....both low RG, both would have a shiny surface...although the Depth is particle and the Reactive is obviously not.....

Might be something for me to look at as for what ever reason, the particle balls don't seem to work well for me. The Depth Charge was an exception to this and is the only particle ball that I can say I "really" liked. Sold it when I dropped to 14# balls. Now trying to go back to 15# and wish I had kept it.

I think Clint is pretty close in his suggestion of the Arsenal Reactive...but it will definately have to be shined up some. Another possibility is Arsenal Angular.
Brickguy, I know your concern with particles....but nothing about the Arsenal Angular shows "particle" on the lanes in my opinion.

Carl or anyone else.......What is the difference in the looks of these two balls in terms of length, crispness (sharpnest) of hook, etc. My Depth Charge was a real mover on the backend. It had a 2" Pin with Pin under RF 4" from PAP and CG 3 1/2" from PAP.

The Depth Charge is discontinued but still available. I could get another one and set up like my old one, but in times of needing help, the Track Forum is the best place to be. Not much help when needed in the Storm Forum.

I have found for help on this site that Track is #1, Lane 1 very close to Track and Brunswick #3.

Arsernal Angular is really sharp on the backend. easy lenth, good mid lane(duh, it is a particle) and sick backend reaction. It will recover with really good backem=nd move and crush the pocket. If u want somthing for heavier oil, i suggest the Arsernal Aggressive. i have also seen many bowlers still using the Arsernals after many games. Hope this helps

Brickguy,

Their reaction is pretty close to the same...just add a couple of boards for the Angular. The angular will read the lane a little sooner and the backend is pretty sweet......on a house shot it will recover from almost anywhere. It holds very well in oil so usually it gives a pretty good tug line as well...you won't get the early read that particles generally give.

Thanks for the help guys. I don't bowl on heavy oil so I've chosen the Arsenal Angular.

Sorry for being so late Brick, still busy as heck.  Too old to be trying to pull off 17-18 hour days but I'm trying.  I would have also have picked the Arsenal Angular but you may want to add a touch of polish to get the same length as the Depth.  If you need help with a layout, just holler.....

Sorry Steven, got a "real" job as my friends say and then shop at night from 6-11.  Now shop has been busy as heck, go figure.  If it was like this before, I wouldn't have had to get a "real" job...haha.  Murphy's law in effect....trying to be here as much as I can still.
