Delta 1 vs. Rule vs. Xception video
« on: October 04, 2005, 06:22:10 PM »
Went to practice tonight...here's a video comparing the three balls:

Rule Delta 1 vs. Rule vs. Xception
http://media.putfile.com/DeltavsRulevsXception

The Rule Delta 1 and Rule are drilled the same - pin under ring, mass bias in strong position - and the Xception is drilled with the pin above the bridge, mass bias in strong position.  Surfaces are as follows:
Rule Delta 1 - OOB - 900-grit
Rule - scuffed with green scotchbrite pad and finished with Clean N' Smooth
Xception - wetsanded to 800-grit, polished with LOTS of Magic Shine

Here are two more vids if you're bored and just want something to watch, lol!

Great videos!!  I really like how you can see the Delta pick up sooner but still recover and watch the Xception just labor going down the lane.

BTW, what kind of camera did you use?  Those are some pretty clear videos.

I used my digital camera: Canon A75

I recorded it in at 640x480, then used VirtualDub to brighten and sharpen the image as well as encode it with DiVX to reduce the file size.

The Delta 1 is just an AWESOME ball.  It just keeps on trucking!  I remember someone mentioning that you have to adjust 2-3 boards of where you 'think' the ball is gonna finish because it just doesn't stop; I have to agree!

Tim:
I wasn't overly impressed with the results of the clinic.  I found my accuracy dropped quite a bit, and even after a month, things still didn't 'feel' right.  I've reverted to my old style, added some forward pitch on my thumb (to help reduce my squeezing, lol!), and gotten a few coaching lessons from Jun Transporto.  I think 1 on 1 coaching is much more productive than group coaching.

I hope all is well with you.  Have you worked on anything specific from the clinic and found any positive results?  Nice to know that the Delta is selling well there ... not a lot of people here throw Track (just the staffers and my friends who I got to throw Track).  Have you gotten the Paradigm yet?

Yah dino i've had my paradigms for about 2 weeks now. loving the ball. the forward it the way to go(i'm using 1/4 forward on a span that is a little over 4 1/2.

I know personally i've been struggling a bit to find myself again after the clinic. it felt like a lot of changes over a short period of time. i developed a case of early timing. i've had to go back to a little bit of late timing but worked on more knee bend and changing my stance a bit.

Hey Dino,

Great comparison, our testing conditions look fairly close.  You have to send me a pm on how to encode to DivX to reduce my vid sizes as well, thanks.

I'm being critical, but you (or someone) threw the Xception 2 boards right of the other two. The Xception crosses the center arrow, while the other two cross between the center and fifth arrows. I suspect that explains much of the difference in reaction. Nice video, though.

Ya, I did throw it a couple boards out more to 'try' and get it to the dry earlier .... but it still doesn't check up.  I'm only a 180avg bowler to, so that can help explain my lack of accuracy!  The shot was just your typical med/heavy THS with a medium volume.

Do you have to throw the delta over the middle arrow? Or are you just doing it because it looks good?
