Desert Heat vs. Heat

Is there a big enough difference between the Heat and Desert Heat to warrant having both?  Would the Heat do the job on most dry/medium conditions?  I am wondering how often I will need a ball like the Desert Heat.  It seems it could definitely be used during later shifts at tournaments.

For the dry side of my arsenal I am trying decide what to do.  I am a stroker with lower revs, so would the Heat do the job?  I suppose I could also get both and drill the Desert Heat weaker and the Heat stronger, to differentiate them a little more.  Any opinions are welcome.

I agree with CMD....there is enough difference. The Desert will back off on much oil at all, while the original Heat will handle more oil, although not lots more. Both balls DESPISE carrydown though.

Thanks for the replies.

Now, you have me thinking about carrydown.  What balls in the current line deal well with carrydown?  Should you use more of a skid/flip ball for that?  Would the Exception be a better choice for carrydown?

Also, after everyone's replies on my last thread, here is the arsenal I am thinking about right now (from most oil to least).  Any comments?

Rule Delta 1
Arsenal Reactive
V2 Strong (old ball - like Aggresive)
V2 Clean (old ball - like Slash)
Exception / Heat (can't decide yet)
Desert Heat

Hey cd, if you have carry down, try and stay away from Skid/Flip type layouts. The Skid portion will only skid even more when encountering carrydown, thus delaying the "Flip" even more. Why don't you try the heat with the Pin under the bridge and the CG kicked out towards your Grip Midline to get a smoother type reaction out of it. With the pin under the bridge, your ball will roll earlier than a "Skid/Flip" type ball, but still have enough Push and backend through the carrydown.

For me, I generally tell my customers to stay away from stuff with a shine on it when bowling on carrydown conditions. If the ball is having trouble turning on the backend, you need more friction to help it do so. If the ball is pearl/polished, in general, it will not do as well as something like the Slash. The Slash is not too aggressive up front to use all of its energy and have nothign left for the backend, and the dull cover will help it bite through the carrydown better.

I like your line up, but it would be even better without the V2s
