Drilled a Desert Heat!
« on: June 08, 2005, 03:50:25 AM »
I drilled a desert heat for the Shop Track Staffer yesterday. This ball went LOOOOOOONG! this ball will perfect for meduim dry to dry condition. the player has a 450 rev rate at 19-20 mph PAP is 4"over 2" up we placed the pin over the bridge to make it a 3 1/2 layout and cg in the palm with no hole. We did this because this ball has very low Diff, any weaker layout this ball with this cover would be a spare ball.  this ball really is close to the lane#1 Bullet which is an excellent ball for drier condition.

Looking for something for the Summer Months when the condition get really dry or playing on reverse block just inside the "OB" straigher you better get the  Desert Heat.

If the pin is above bridge and is 3 1/2 from axis, what is his axis point?

Nope, he is correct.  Keep in mind that the ball is a sphere, 3D.  The greater the vertical measurement of the PAP, the closer it gets to the grip centerline.

I also adjusted the surface on the Desert Heat we took from the polish box surface to a 1000 Abralon pad. after the Surface changed the ball didn't wiggle as much. This ball is a winner for Drier condition. The Dry Heat last year was still a little to strong drier condition but this desert heat hits the spot for these conditions.

Hey Ramtart,

Stop by the shop and I'll throw some for you so you can see the ball first hand.  I threw a couple of more games last nite with nonamekevin and this ball is about 3-4 more than my urethane, it's looking pretty good guys.

Nice Rick! I'll have to do that. We have to throw a few too. What day are you bowling league at Southshore? What are your Friday night hours looking like bud?

Hey jm,

So far from the what I've seen, it goes longer then both the balls you mentioned.  It does remind me of the original Sonic X Pearl , very good length and good hit.  I liked the Sonic X and pearl, they were very nice balls for drier conditions.  However, I'd have to say that it'll depend on how "truly" dry your dry is, is there any head oil or are we talking fried from the foul line?

Ram, I bowl Thurs(tonite) from 7-9ish.  My hrs on Friday will normally be the same (till about 10-11pm) but I have to leave tomorrow to Reno.  In charge of running league finals and sweepers for the weekend.  $6k ($1500 a piece) for 1st place for a hdcp league, not bad.  Will be back on Sun nite....unless I hit Megabucks

Threw this tonight the last game in league.  Very, very clean and pretty smooth off the dry.  Hit was typical and extremely strong.  It allowed me to really square up to the pattern and get much further right than a similarly drilled Heat).  Threw 3 messengers in route to a 289!  Very little flare so don't be afraid to drill this strongly (mine is an old favorite from my Beast/Track Magic days....4 x 3.5 with extra hole on axis).

More to come along with Blue Heat info (The Heat series looks to be a hot series ).

I mean fried from foul line... we bowl on like 25+yo anvil-lane... with carry down

jm, do you still have your Col Scout urethane?  I'd say try that and if it's still too much then your only choices after that are plastic and rubber.

I hate you.  I pulled it out games 2&3 yesterday because we're back to a bad O/U shot, went 230 and 217 in the dry.  Not bad for the 1st 2 posted games....
