What are the basic difference in the characteristics of these 2 balls?

Havoc is a solid and asymmetric. And it is an early grabbin solid in its out of box condition. Very good in our area if drilled to skip midlane and a TON of polish put on!
Arsenal REactive is a pearl symmetric and a great one! A lot more backend than above if in box condition vs box!

LL,
I have the Havoc drilled Pin to PAP 6"; MB to PAP 3-1/2"; Pin is 4" above midline. I tried it out of box, and it was to strong...I put some Magic Shine on it, it was way over-under. I used a 2000 grit Abralon on it, and the ball is now really strong through the mid-lane, and doesn't not over-hook at the back end, read very smooth finish.
I was looking at the Exception 5.0 (Jeff Smith purchase) . . . but I've been reading good things about the AR....
Just researching.

The AR is pearlized? That fact is currently undocumented in most readily accessible places. How did you learn of it, Lucky?

Duke I have had the havoc and currently have the AR. The difference that I see is the amount of oil the AR can handle compared to the Havoc. In fact I feel these balls are fairly close in reaction with the AR having a little bit more backend. Both have strong mid lane reactions.

charlest,
I thought the same thing...I didn't think it was pearlized?

Sorry,
Only went by eyes. We have so many guys using it and we have so little oil that around here Impulse Zones look pearlized Reaction Rolls almost look pearlized.
Average finish in our area is 2000 grit and then a bunch of polish.
HEy that Vertigo...that's pearlized right?

It's not so much that I didn't think it was; I just never saw that mentioned anywhere. I have one but haven't drilled it yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it looked pearlized AFTER it was polished, because Track mixes solid and pearl in a ball's coverstock quite often, more often than most other manufacturers, with VERY good results, so far.

BTM calls the AR a pearl reactive. I don't think it is. I'm sure one of the gurus will know.

Ladies and gentelmen,
Just too clear the matter up it is a solid reactive.
I will also tell you that the ball so much stronger than the havoc that its not really talking about..
Last Friday night drilled this ball for a friend of mine and because I am hurt right now he is subbing for in the Steve Cook Classic, bowling on 1&2 he shots 288-300-265=853. I have sold 20 of htese balls in the last 2 weeks and not one person has been disappointed at all.
GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

Duke,
Very good question....and as you see it can bring several different answers.
HERE IS MINE!
I had 2 Havocs and I really liked them. Given drilling and cover specs being equal The Havoc and Arsenal Reactive will give you pretty identical reaction throughout the lane, but the Arsenal Reactive will give you more of it. The reason I say "pretty identical" is because I think you will also notice the Arsenal Reactive having a touch more backend.
As far as oil handling ability....I changed the surface on my Havocs to get them to roll better in oil, but I have not had to wander from the AR's OOB finish at all.
I hope this helps,
Carl

Duke,
My main difference between the two for me is that the AR can handle more oil and offers a stronger movement on the backend. Even though the Havoc rolled early and strong also, I don't think it can handle the same density/thickness that the AR can.

In actuality, the copper portion is pearlized.
