Difference between Hx05 and Mx05
« on: January 15, 2015, 03:40:00 PM »
How much difference should we expect between these two balls?  Both have the same finish and the same RG and Diff.

Same core, different cover. It seems that the MX05 will be what people thought the HX05 would be. A lot of people have said the cover on the HX05 is really tame and gives a lot of length with a slightly smoother backend. The MX05 looks like a backend monster

So, would you expect the MX05 to be stronger than the LX05?

Depends on your opinion of strength. I view it as overall strength which I would rank the LX05 a little above the MX.
With Track's system, the LX covers are stronger than MX which is stronger than HX when used with the same core

The LX 05 looks real similar to the 505t. I'm thinking of getting one. The 505t is one of my all time favorites. I'm sure it's stronger than the mx 05.

Ok.  I have the LX and, in it's box condition. is fairly strong.  In fact, it's a little too strong for the dry lanes I bowl on and I've had to add polish to use it at all.  Sounds like the MX may be what I need to look into for my house.

Thanks for the info.

I would look into the HX more if your lanes are really on the drier side and that way you could have a little separation with the LX05.

For me the Mx05 is a good 5 & 3 right of the Lx05. Have them both drilled the same way. In releation to what the reaction difference is between the Lx, Hx, & Mx05's are, the Hx05 was a 5 & 3 move right from the Mx05. The length differrence is about 3 feet earlier for the Mx to the Hx and the Lx is about 5 feet earlier than the Mx.

Let me be sure of what you're saying.  If I stand on 30 (using my Lx05) and my target is 15, then with the Mx05 I would stand on 25 and target 12.  One other question, how is the finish of the Mx compared to the Lx?  Are they similar or does one finish stronger than the other?  Since you have both balls, did you change the surface on either one?

Thanks for the help.

That would be what I am saying, my Lx05 was taken to 1000 and my Mx05 is at 3000. I dont see a difference in ball motion. Just a difference on how much volume they handle and how much area they cover because of where they start up. The Mx05 gives me the same motion that the Lx05 does, only I can move right. The Hx05 gives me that same motion just less than the Mx05 and far less than the Lx05, my Hx05 was Box. If I stand in the same spot to strike with the Lx05, the Mx05 would be a light pocket hit to a 2-10 combo hit. the Hx05 in that spot would be a washout no doubt. Until the volume on the lanes lightens up. Then the Mx05 would start to be flush, the Hx would be the 2-10 combo and the Lx qould start being either through the nose or even a roll out motion that sits and leaves me ten pin after ten pin.

I had the 505c2 and that ball rolled great every time down the lane. Had it drilled pin up 4" and pin down 5", both layouts lit up our house shot

Discontinuing the kinetic was one of the reasons why I left for Utah stuff.   If there ever was a ball to me back its one of those...I just can't pry storm stuff outta my hands lol

Thanks so much.  That's about the best description I've ever had of how the balls react.  I ordered the Mx05 today and, for the time being, I will probably leave it in box finish.  By the way, I used the Track recommendation tool and it recommended the Mx05.

Thanks again.
