Bowling Magazine May 2007 published details of the ABS video production process.
In the article, Kaz said he chose the ball for comparison as close to the new ball as possible, for example a ball having same core. Then Kaz said he made effort to express the strong point of every balls in the video. The oil pattern was confirmed to be Heiwajima Star Bowl's monthly shot. As we already know, it's 40ft christmas tree basically.
So in other words, his demonstration is not exact comparison between two balls. Different two balls run through differnt length of oil and different number of dry boards to the pocket. We have to keep this nature of his demonstrations in mind. Though I don't know how those differnce affect the ball motions quantitatively.
In additon, in a video in ABS archives he says "I don't like skid/flipply backend reaction at all."
IMO, such preference might cause all the demonstration tend to show milder reaction than crankers expect. I think this is one of the reasons some bowlers are confused to see ABS videos.
Lastly FYI, ABS inc. announced "Phoenix New-Brid" today. Will be released in July. "Action New-Brid" will be released in June, as well.
