I have been using the Switch Grip interchangeable thumb insert system from Turbo for about a year and a half now and I really like the consistent fit it gives me from ball to ball.
I asked if anybody else uses these because there will be a problem with using this system on the Equation. The hole depth required for the switch grip is too deep to be used on the Equation because the drill bit cannot drill into the ceramic nugget.
I first ran into this problem with a customer on the Ti Messenger Low RG. I remembered that instance and I tried drilling a deep hole with a small drill bit on my Equation and I hit the ceramic nugget. Because I used a small bit, I was able to go with a standard depth hole and use a regular thumb solid.
My next question would be if the ceramic nugget REALLY makes enough difference to rule out the use of this product. I am seeing a growing number of bowlers in my area using this product and some bowlers will just choose another ball if they are not able to use what they like.

Hey Michael,
I would lean more towards the cover and core as reasons to use the ball over the nugget insert. Interesting situation, I don't use Switch Grips but have drilled enough ceramics to know you don't want hit it. What about offsetting the core so you miss it, I know you may have to sacrifice certain layouts but would that be an option?

I do not think that offsetting the core in any direction would avoid the ceramic nugget since the nugget is so close to the center of the ball.
Because the Switch Grip requires a 1 1/2 inch drill bit and needs to be drilled about 3 1/4 inches deep, the hole consumes a lot of the inside of the ball.
I just wanted to post a message as a warning to anyone else that might want this ball with a Switch Grip. Personally I drilled the ball with the layout I wanted and just used a standard thumb slug. I will be posting my review after I put some more games on it.
