Down a LB Big Difference
« on: September 25, 2006, 11:05:03 PM »
Had previously posted i was dropping from a 15lb to 14lb just to try it out with pin below ring for earlier roll and more revs.Well i puchased a 14lb Solution Power Plus got it very very cheap cos my driller had started drilling it for a right hander and it was for a left hander so it was unused with just one hole drilled. Had it done with pin below ring and cg 2ins below that.Bowled on Sunday in a comp on synthetics with a medium pattern i also use the locking glove to give me more consistancy. The difference was just wonderful with it being a 1lb lighter i got lots more revs came off my hand full of roll and and hit the pocket it seemed just as hard as my 15lb balls. It looked to me that the pin action was totally different with the extra revs i had on it and it really did look so smooth going down and i had that little extra speed. Played last night on wooden lanes and still got the same reaction and some of my friends said they saw a big difference in the way it went down and finished. Had been struggling to get revs on my 15lbs (due to my age 62)but this has been a calculated gamble and i know its early days but seems to be working really well. Now i want another 14lb (track of course) for more oilier lanes that rolls early and finishes well so open to all suggestions. Have had 2x300s with my 15lb Robo Rule in the last 5 months but struggled with lack of revs to get it up to the pocket on oilier conditions. Thanks guys

I recently switched to 14 LB equipment and my pro shop guy gave me a little grief. I had picked up a couple of gems on ebay cheap and decided to give it a try. I have not noticed any loss of hitting power or any carrying issues. I seem to be hitting my marks more consistently and I can add revs. More importantly, I WAS a low tracker, now I have a higher track and see a lot more reaction in heavier oil. I've been having a little trouble adjusting, but I'm getting the hang of it now. Tossed a 720 Friday night, and my fingers didn't bother me afterward, which is why I switched.
