a True long oil ball ??? 916AT vs ?????
« on: January 13, 2012, 02:15:31 PM »
So there is a big tourny comming up that does a modified US Open shot ( 45ft )   And I know my 919c, 811A wont be enough.....  I have a 716c that is scuffed @ 2k, and is drilled like my old Virtual Gravity which worked wonders on the shark and scorpion patterns....  But idk if this ball would be enough on 45ft of oil...

I was looking at options like the Taboo, Mission X, World Beater, Dark Encounter........

Nexus solid scuffed to 500 grit is my go to ball for those lane conditions. Strong mid lane with a smooth strong backend. I then go to my 811a as soon as I can for better carry. Truth is it is all about the layout and surface when choosing a ball. Be sure to have a ball that matches your rev rate/ ball speed.

Deadwood.....

Well I talked to my proshop guy this afternoon, and Had him order me up a 916at, after talking to him about the ball, cuz I know some of the reviews about the ball are kinda " blaaaaaa "   But I think for the Surface of the ball, it should do well on a longer oil pattern...

I'm looking at doing double thumb drilling, If i can get a long enough pin, or just doing a pin down drilling...

Surface and layout will work with many different bowling balls on that pattern. Any of the T or C series from Track would probably be perfect. Ball speed and where you try to play will also help. Drill something with a 3-4" pin from your pap.

Well , I practiced yesterday @ said bowling alley and they had a 46ft pattern put out to practice on...  I mainly used my Pin down 716c which is @ 2k abralon...   Even tried my 919c @ 2k, and is pin up..

Needless to say on 46ft of oil it doesnt really matter which ball I used the backend reaction was very little....

even after about 6 games, I finally could get the ball to face up a bit towards the pocket..  Thankfully I have a 916AT comming this week..

many people around me prefer the taboo. the mission x kinda flattens out at the pins. and i dont know much about the dark encounter. I honestly would recommend the taboo, nano, infinite, or critical theory. the critical theory gets throw the fronts and really snaps at the end great finish for longer patterns. I would look into it some. But the taboo and the nano are also great balls for longer patterns.. but it really depends on what you want the ball to do

The 916 is actually weaker in my opinion than the 919

715T is a good choice for heavy oil better than 916.
