Rule=Wow
« on: January 21, 2005, 11:24:24 AM »
Ok Folks,

I just drilled up my Rule today. My PAP is 4 & 5/8 and 1/2 inch up.  With help from Chuck at Track, we layed out the ball 4.5 x 4 with the pin 3.5 inches above my mid-liine (places the pin right above my ring finger) and the MB is in a strong position next to my thumb.  ALl I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW, and WOW! I only threw a couple of games, will post an official mini-review later. However, from what I saw first hand (after reading everything here on the boards)is that everyone is right when it comes to the hit of this ball.  It was like Moses parting the Red Sea when this balls hits.  Then pin reaction is tremendous and just like everyone describes, the pins stay low. I could play two very distinct lines.  The first was a typical down and in shot by playing right down 10. Wow, it when down about 50-55 feet then made a beeline for the pocket.  The house then redressed the lanes and I got a chance to through it on fresh oil.  I found I could play 30 to 15 quite easily.  The breakpoint was around 7 or 8.  Again, I have never had a ball that I could play that deep on a fresh shot and still have energy to hit the pins.  Just for comparisions sake, I compared it to my Phenom.  True my Phenom is a leverage drill with the MB kicked out near my VAL.  The Phenom playing the same shot hooked earlier (which I expected it to do, but then just rolled out and died).  The Rule went a tad longer then just made a hard turn left to the pocket, while still keeping its energy.  Just to add a bit more, I have actually taken a couple months off from bowling (due to personal reasons), so therefore I was a bit rusty for not having bowled in about 4-5 months.  My second game with the Rule was an easy 200+.  My jaw just dropped.  Usually it takes me a couple of practice sessins to get back up to speed.  This ball just made my work easier.  Now I did notice if I tug it, the ball will take off, but, if I push it to the right a bit, I know the ball will come back.  (Trust me it happened a few times).  Overall, I am quite happy with this latest edition to my arsenal.  I am looking forward to bowling in leagues with it.  Now I can't wait for my "Exception"!

Cheers Everybody!

AH, GRASSHOPPER.......the wonder of physics...and I thought those nerds "with the pocket protectors" were only good for talking about the black holes in space....and trying to determine the meaning of life--- strictly from a mathematical point of view, of course

And then the recent awesome comments about the GP2 --- dare I use the famous "it doesn't get any better than this!!!!"

I have two Rules.

One is stacked leverage and that ball is awesome. It really opens up the lane. You need something up front for that one. The other one has the pin up in the grip center-line above the bridge. The MB is in the strong position. That ball will give you good length and depending on how clean the back-ends are, it'll roll hard and very strong to the hole. Surfaces are important on this ball. Keep them clean and maintained. I use Clean and Dull and a used green pad on the spinner.

I have a GP2 on order and already know that ball will be my strongest yet. Hats off to Del and his staff.

Hey Rick,

I actually got the "Wow" phrase from my former boss, who was a Pharmacy Supervisor in Virginia.  Whenever something of great magnitude came out and it would benefit us, he would always say "Wow,Wow,Wow,Wow,Wow".  The phrase sort of just stuck with me.  I was mouthing this the entire time I was throwing the Rule for the first time.  Incredible ball!  I feel like a kid in a candy store. Like I said before, now I can't wait for my "Exception" to arrive.

Cheers!
