Slash vs. Animal Untamed
« on: July 05, 2005, 12:36:39 PM »
Since the other post I made seemed to be about Slash video's, I deleted it and added this one.  Want to know what people think between the Animal Untamed and Slash.  Which ball do you like better?  What's the difference in reaction between the two?  And which do you think would handle conditions where there is an ample amount of oil in the heads and middle part of the lane, w/ dry on the outside 6-7 boards?

BigB20,

With each of those in their OOB surface, they have a similiar reaction (MB placement on the Untamed depending), but the Untamed just offers up more strength overall.

Both of them would handle the condition you described, I would expect the Untamed to open up the lane a little more and you would have to play more direct with the Slash.

The only item I would like to add to Ex's comments are my Untameds did not do very well in carrydown. However, the Slash has had better success with carrydown for me.

I have both.  Like Carl (EXCALIBER) said, based on MB placement on the Untamed, it will be stronger, and earlier.  The AU has a lower RG (rev earlier) with a high Diff (high flare), compared to the Slash which is med RG, (longer) but still high flare.  I have both drilled similiar but not exact - AU 4.5 x 3 MB , Slash 4 x 2.

What I see happen on a typical THS (synthetic 38 - 40 feet), is the Untamed rolls out at the pocket, while the Slash keeps driving through the pocket.  There are times when either is preferred, although I prefer the Slash as my benchmark ball.

I find it's not as speed sensitive as the AU....

Hope this helps,

I would say that the Slash is a more versatile ball and is more consistent on varius conditions. I personaly think it hits better too.

Hey Big,

Interesting, I drilled my Untamed with the mb at 2.5 so it rolls very early and even, not touchy at all.  The Slash is a very versatile ball that simply reacts to the layout that's placed on it.

In the case of the Untamed, like Traumabill states, it does have a lower rg combined with my short mb to pap, it helped offset my high tilt and produced a very nice roll.  This may be your problem, that if your rolling too soon and the ball is not storing enough energy for you downlane.

If you can give us the layout of the ball, your pap and some of details of your game, we can maybe help suggest another pattern for you on that ball that would give it a better look.
