Drilling up an Unleashed
« on: December 24, 2003, 06:01:25 AM »
Greetings!

I have a Phenom Unleashed that I will have drilled up this weekend.  Was hoping to get some input on what pattern to drill this with....

Here is what I am looking for.....

length and a strong but controlled move to the pocket...

PAP is 5 3/4
Pin in 3 inches
TW is 3 oz....

looks as if CG is about 1/4 - 1/2 right of line drawn direct from Pin to MB...

Was thinking 45 Degree drilling with a nice bit of polish.....would think this would give me what I am looking for????.....Any other specs on me and my bowling are in my profile...

Thanks for the help!!!!

Mike

Mike,

Try the Pin under and between the fingers, and the MB inbetween the thumb and your VAL. I would go directly in the center, if your PAP is 5 3/4, I would go probably 3 inches right of the thumb hole.

Hi Mike,

Ex is on the ball as usual.  I have mine pin under, split fingers, but I placed my mb(about 2) a little closer to my val for an even smoother reaction and this is exactly what I get.   I can't handle balls w/ too much backend, causes o/u on shots out here.  Hits like a truck, last 2 weeks in league, shot 723 and 721, more amazing for ME was going 60 clean.  Good luck......

Thanks for the input!!

Question for you....I have a very high track and have tried pin under type drillings but have always flared over fingers/thumb and really haven't tried a pin under in quite sometime.  Will this drilling create/cause the same problems??

I also track high. Balls with the strong MB (as told to me by Del Warren and Mo Pinel) can move your track 2 inches. So you should be safe. I do not hit the holes on any of my stuff drilled with the pin low. Example though----I had a Storm Super Power(has MB, but was not strong, and probably not marked correctly), I had the pin in the same location as with the Unleashed and I hit the thumb hole every time.

I would really say that you are safe with this drilling.
