Equation question?
« on: August 17, 2006, 10:14:30 AM »
Probably has been asked before....

Which Track ball would you compare the Equation to?

Xception....hands down...last time I saw a ball kick like this on the back, it was that ball, and what a surprise, they have the exact same cover...reactive pearl Goo LS...hmmm....

Duke,

Where it is similiar to the Xception, it is different as well.

The best comparison I have come up with is that it is a mix between the Xception and the Freakazoid. I am not sure if that helps you or not.......but the Equation is amazing in the backend of the lane (even in carrydown).

Ball sounds very interesting. I was going to buy an Xception, but ended up buying an Arsenal Aggressive. I have a Hammer Raw Doom, which is pretty strong on the backend. Do you think the Doom and the Equation are similar?

Duke,
Based off your game, I think an Equation would compliment your Doom, assuming you keep your Doom at the surface its currently at.

Hey Duke, (How are you doing?)

The Equation reminds me more of a stronger Xception.  It can handle more oil and still has that strong backend finish as well.

I've only seen the Raw Doom a couple of times.  Could be the drilling but I'd like to say that the Equation is still stronger in comparison.

northface,

I have the Equation sitting here. Just trying to get an idea of what to expect from the ball.

Good seeing you again yesterday. My last 2 games I ended up shooting 214-214 (Arsenal Aggressive).

Now all I have to do is settle on a drilling to put in the ball.
Ed Moores in West Chicago drills my equipment. Has been doing a great job.

Rick,

I'm doing fine. Hope you are too.
I got a great deal on an Equation from Clint...
The ball's sitting here, begging for holes to be put in it.
Nice looking ball, if it reacts half as good as it looks, I'll be happy.

Ball has a 2" pin and 2-3/4 oz. TW.

I've been drilling my equipment (lately) pin under RF (roughly 4" from PAP) CG kicked out about 1/2", with good results. Think this would be a good drill for the Equation. I'm going to use it one THS with pretty good carrydown.

Thanks...

Duke,
I havent looked at your arsenal in depth, but isnt the Doom pin under bridge? How many pin up drillings do you have? I think you should maybe try the Equation pin over ring, cg kick, with maybe a low hole so it can have more aggressive move to plow thru that carrydown.

northface,

I have a Track Animal and a Track Havoc drilled with the pin above the ring finger...I believe the Havoc is about 2-1/2-3? above. It's a 5" pin. The Animal also is above the ring finger (and outside) about 2".

Do you think that drilling would work well?

I'm going to drill the Equation, for Irving Park Lanes, don't know if you are familiar with the house or not.

Duke,

How is your Doom drilled up?

Carl,

My Doom is drilled pin under RF, CG kicked out about 1/2" (Approx. 4-1/2 X 4)
I was using the Doom 1000 Abralon (no polish) on my Summer Sport shot...worked out well. I took the Doom down to 600 grit yesterday, w/ 2 coats of Magic Shine.

Right now I carry the Doom and Arsenal Aggressive (drilled pin under finger CG in palm), for most conditions.

Duke,

The Equation is longer than the Doom.....with more backend. The Doom revs up pretty early for a pearl reactive ball.

If I had a Doom(drilled like yours) and wanted to get an Equation drilled to be different I would drill the Equation with the pin 4 3/4 x 4 1/2......and place the pin above the fingers if possible.

In looking I see that the ball has a 2 inch pin......you may not be able to go above the fingers and get all of the extra finger weight out of the ball.

In that case I would drill the Equation with the pin below the bridge. That will still give you a tad more length and a bit of seperation between the 2.

Goodluck,
Carl

Carl,
Thanks for the advice.
I'll tell my driller what you recommended, see what he can do.
He's really been doing a great job laying out my equipment.

Thanks for the input.
