Equation^2 Mini-Review
« on: January 14, 2007, 07:45:16 AM »
HEY FASTTRACKERS!

Finally decided to try and get back into tournament mode this morning and got to throw the Equation^2. I was using the original Equation as well so I was able to get a good look with both balls to see their differences. The Equation^2 goes about 3-5 ft longer down the lane before smooth arching its way into the pocket. The ball definitely wasn't as skid/snappy as the original Equation. With that being said I feel the Equation^2 is a good go to ball when the original Equation is too much for the lanes. This ball I feel is stronger than the Heat Blast though. As said in the other thread with my picture of the ball, both Equation's have the same layout. The Equation^2 would be best used on the medium to medium dry conditions. I still feel it would be too much ball for the dry in my opinion. I will try to get a video with some shots of the ball real soon! As for the tournament, made it to the Round of 32 Match Play and was knocked out by 7 pins. Hope this helps guys! God Bless You All and have a great week!

P.S. I contemplated trying other companies equipment; however, after a long thought process, I've decided to remain Track loyal, for now, at least to see what Phil brings to the table. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the review. Good to know this ball will work for me I think. I like the other Equation on oil.

My main question if you dont mind is, where did you get one this soon?

HEY GUYS!

To answer your questions...

1) the pro shop I get my things through had one come in through the FASTTRACK program and they always keep me in as their # 1 guy for the Track stuff.

2) Adam, I can only dream that one day I will actually be a Track staffer! I am an avid supporter of Track equipment though! That much I can say!

God Bless You All and if you have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread or send me a PM!

HEY ADAM!

Firsthand, we know that these balls have the same cover. The only thing that separates the X-Ception I feel is the core. With that being said, depending upon the layout would be whether or not the X-Ception is stronger than the Equation series. So based on your profile and how you have the X-Ception laid out (Pin Above Ring Finger), I will take that and compare the best I can. I have learned from Rick and Carl that Mass Bias placement is important to obtaining the reaction you desire.

I do feel the Equation^2 will get the most length down the lane between the 3 balls. If you were to compare the original Equation to the X-Ception, I feel the X-Ception would have the Equation but not by a whole lot. The original Equation gives me incredible skid/snap reaction.

When I was using the Equation^2 during tournament play today, it didn't overjump boards but when it hit more oil than it could handle, it went really light pocket. In this case, switching to the Equation was the right move. As I said to begin with, the look I got from it was a very smooth arc. Even though it was smooth, it would still be a step above the Heat Blast in my opinion. It is definitely something I haven't seen in awhile from the Track line. Again, this is just my opinion. Hope this helps! God Bless You All and have a great week! Anymore questions, feel free to post!

How would you compare the EQ2 to the Inertia in arc? I mean if you drilled them both the same would there be enough difference to warrant one over the other?

Thanks

HEY SHIPPER!

Remember that the Inertia has a Mass Bias and the placement of that depending upon a bowler's PAP makes a huge difference in reaction overall.

I feel that with the Inertia laid out Pin Above the Ring Finger and the MB in the proper spot that it will start up sooner even though we have made the core taller to give us length down the lane due to the particle coverstock whereas in the Equation^2 it is a pearl reactive.

I have my Inertia laid out with a 4" Pin Below the Ring Finger. MB is 5 1/2" from my PAP, with the pin 1 3/4" above midline without a weight hole. So I can't give a clear comparison between the two but I still feel the Inertia is stronger overall and can handle more oil than the Equation^2. Hope this helps! God Bless You All and have a great week! As always, anymore questions feel free to ask!

Hey Michael,

This Equation^2 has got me curious. I realize that it is supposed to be weaker than the original Equation and have less backend. With that said, I need a ball that is similar to the Heat remake. Mine cracked, !!!

Do you think that the Equation^2 is a good replacement for a Heat remake??

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

HEY RYAN!

I feel the Equation^2 may fit the bill here buddy!

Some differences here though for you to consider between the two. The Equation^2 has a slightly lower RG of 2.50 while the Heat remake has an RG of 2.56; yet, the Equation^2's differential is just slightly higher with 0.040. Also, the Heat remake was 0.037. While the E^2 has the GOO LS which is a very aggressive reactive cover, the remake had Power Plus with an injection of MICA which to my knowledge (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) was a particle injection.

I feel that is what gave the Heat remake its aggressiveness, but I guess the debate would be up in the air on which of the two covers is more aggressive than the other. My opinion, I feel the GOO LS is still the stronger of the two even though the Heat remake has the MICA injection with the Power Plus cover. Hope this helps you buddy! Let me know if you have anymore questions! God Bless You and have a great week!

Ok, one more question. How does the Equation^2 compare to the Solution PP EX?

HEY RYAN!

I feel the Equation^2 is like the Heat Blast and Solution Power Plus EX combined into one. Most of us in the Track forum agreed that the Heat Blast was a very smooth piece.
In conclusion, I'm saying its a smoother but aggressive version of the Blast but starts up sooner than a Solution EX because of the stronger cover. Hope this helps buddy! God Bless You and have a great week!
