Just ordered a Mean Machine!
« on: December 29, 2006, 03:54:29 AM »
Can't wait to get it, my friend won one in the ball-a-day giveaway over the summer. Even though he's not really much of a bowler, the ball looks great. I can't wait to get it drilled up for a heavier oil patterns.

How will this ball work on heavier oil patterns and long sport shots? I know it's not ideal for the heaviest of patterns, but at the price this thing was available for, I couldn't pass it up. If anything it'll be great on heavier THS shots.

Thanks for the help guys!

I'd say its a medium-heavy ball at best.  It definitely makes a HARD arc off of the dry and is pretty controllable in my opinion.  It's hitting power is superb.  Its probably my best ball in terms of pocket/strike percentage as it always seems to kick out those corner pins when everything else is leaving stone 7s and 10s.  Id use it more if there were more oil at my house more often, but those times that it is a little heavier than normal, this is my go to ball.

Hey Ryan,

I would also define our Mean as med/med to med heavy (having some decent hand).  With the larger pores in the surface, it does like the thicker oils better from what I've seen.  If your density of oil is thinner, this ball does not store energy like it can and therefore not finish as well on a condition that offers the thicker concentration of oil in the middle part of the lane.

I actually just sanded mine to a burgundy pad to play in some heavier stuff and it looks much better.

Please also remember to place your mass bias accordingly to your game.  This ball has an Rg of 2.54 so it does want to push down lane on its own to some degree.  Let me know if you need help with a layout, thanks.
