Symmetrical Weight Block Drillings
« on: March 03, 2006, 06:40:36 AM »
If I were to take two Artilleries, both with the same surface prep, and drill one with a 4"pin/6"cg and the other with a 6"pin/4"cg, what difference in ball reaction would I see? Would there be enough difference to justify doing this? Thanks for your help.

I would guesstimate that it would depend on your style, lane conditions you are bowling on, and ultimately the reactions you are looking to achieve...  If you really like the look you are getting from one, punching up another might not be a bad idea...  if you are trying to cover the entire spectrum of lane conditions, there are probably better choices.

If you really like a ball i'm all for buying a couple of them and trying different layouts.  I have done this with my Raw Hammer Dooms.  Plus you can seperate the reactions even more with different cover preps.

What I'm really wanting to know is the difference between a strong pin/weak cg(mb) and a weak pin/strong cg(mb) drilling - all parameters being equal. Has anyone experimented with this? Thanks.

erh300,

I plan on doing pretty close to what you have mentioned, I like the Artillery that much.

With all being equal if you did this you would get a strong reaction out of the 4" pin.....it would read the lane much sooner than the 6" pin. The 6" pin would go much longer and have a strong move down the lane.

What you are mentioning is not really a bad idea for a bowler to do with one ball......however, has Strapper Mentioned if you are trying to cover several different lane conditions Track has other options that are better. I see the Artillery being able to handle a wide variety of lane conditions in the med/heavy-med/light area.

Hey erh,

Depending upon your pap, if the 6 inch pin crosses your centerline, it would have a big difference in reaction.  I have 2 Arsenal Reactives with one drilled under bridge (about 5 from pap) and one drilled over mid finger (6 from pap).  The 6 inch pin is at least 7-8 boards less for me.  I have videos in my profile showing the 2 balls.  Hope this helps...
