Finally got to roll the Animal last night and the results were none too impressive. Fortunately I know it's no entirely the arrows fault, so we'll fix the problem and try it again.
Numbers aren't worth posting, but the ball reaction is. I wanted them to bring the ball back to box finish as I wanted the Animal to be my flippier med/med. heavy piece to go with my "oh so smooooth" 800 grit Rush. I think they got a little too happy with the polish as the Animal is quite shiny -- stunning, actually -- but that's not what I was looking for. Instead of having them take some of the finish off, I thought I'd give it a try. It went long -- really long -- and never quite got back to the pocket. If I threw it a little wider to get into some dry, it still went too long and hit the 3-6 pocket. I prefer to keep my ball speed up, so I switched to the Rush for late game 1/game 2 and started crushing the pocket. By the end of game 2, the Rush was getting too strong, so I thought I'd try the Animal again. A little better results as I started hitting the pocket, but was leaving 10 pins. Finished the game with the Rush, moving in a little deeper.
Bowled 4 more games with the Animal vs. Apocalypse and by now I was getting a little tired. I was throwing the Apocalypse 30 to 15 at the arrows and the Animal was 33-35 to 15 at the arrows and I was now getting the reaction I had expected earlier. When I hit the hole, the Animal does all I was told it would and, I think, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I just have to get this baby roughed up a little bit.
Any suggestions on a good grit? I was thinking to start at 1000 grit wet sand to start....It's drilled up pin above/right of ring with MB 2" right of thumb and the X-hole a little in/down from PAP......Don't want to lose the flippiness, but I definitely want it to read earlier than it did last night.
