Title: Finding the Bowtie
Post by: erh300 on March 16, 2004, 11:49:58 PM
Is there a way to throw some measurements on a ball and find where the bowtie will be or is that something you have visually find with oil rings? I'm interested in finding the bowtie on my Unleashed to do some coverstock mods. Thanks for your help.

erh300,

Just throw your ball on a lane that has enough oil to mark the flare rings.  Your bowtie is the middle of the x in your flare rings, regularly near the middle finger on your track.

Correct me if im wrong, but there are no other ways of determaning where the bowtie may be, unless it's thrown.  Different styles of release and speed will change the bowtie's location.

Hope this helps

The bowtie is usually on a line from the PAP thru the pin to the intersection with the track.  If you know where you normally track, you can make a pretty good guess where the bowtie will end up.  Certain weight hole locations can move the bowtie, so this may not be exact, but it is usually pretty darn close.
