When I was on C.A.T.S. with Brian Pursel a few weeks ago, he explained to me that rev rate numbers will vary dependent upon the condition you're on. A shorter oil conditioning will produce a higher rev rate and a longer pattern will give you the appearance of having lower rev rates. The actual number is not the the key here.
The important thing to understand is your revs to speed ratio that allows one to have a small or large amount of overall hook. Once understanding how much an individual bowler can hook, it is our job (as drillers) to match the right piece to that player on a given condition.
This concept has been there since day 1, whether a bowler needed pos or neg static, polished or sanded even on hard rubber to help him/her create the proper amount of skid, hook and roll in 60 feet.
