Happy Holidays to all:
Just wanted to find out a few things:
What is your benchmark ball?
Which type of cores(symmetrical or asymmetrical) and covers(particle, reactive or urethane) do you think makes better benchmark balls?
Explain your theory behind your choice.

Slash....
Even cover (not too aggressive nor not aggressive enough) and the same goes for the core. A year and a half ago, the answer would have been the Havoc, but it has since been discontinued. The Freak A Zoid is considered a benchmark by quite a few people as well.
A ball coming into the light more lately is the Solution PP, which is essentially a Slash (Triton Elite) with the same shape core, but different densities.

The benchmark ball for me is my Havoc. The way I set up the layout allows it to read the lane conditions nicely and be a good set up for whether I need to move to something stronger or weaker in my lineup. My bowling coach and I discussed what type of bowling ball as well as the characteristics based on my style that I needed for a benchmark ball. Being that I'm more of a stroker, something that will give me a controllable arcing motion is what I feel I need in a benchmark piece, as well as handling a decent amount of oil but not on the extremes of light or heavy...
