I am new to the layouts of the newer balls of today, so please bare with me. I have a Robo drilled with the pin to the right of the ring finger and the mb is to the right of the thumb. I have a balance hole, I think is on my VAL.

My pap is 4 3/4 up 1/4 and I am more of a stroker of the old days. I used the above ball in my first game of my new league last night and go /x/xxxxxxxxx for 270. Then in the second game the Robo was done.

I have a nib Robo and Mean Machine. Both balls are from Clint and the specs are pretty close in line as the Robo is straight in line.

I want a ball or balls that will have more of an arc than skid flip as I see on the shot I will bowl on this reaction will work better.

What should I want my driller to do with my new Robo and MM?

Nice game Shipper...based on your info, I'd say your current Robo is about a 3-3.25 x 4.5-4.75 mb? This layout does promote length and a sharper finish on the backend.

Do you want the other Robo to be smoother? If so, then I'd suggest a pin under bridge with the mb out towards your pap. Layout should be about a 4.5x3mb, this should give you that smoother arc, also do not leave too much positive static weights.

If you want more delay to help push the ball down lane without having to "force" it, you can also go with the pin next to ring area and mb left of thumb like my Inertia.

The difference between the 2 layouts are when they will start hooking or reading the mid lane. The mb near pap will roll sooner and control the backend. The second layout with the mb on the other side of the thumb will force the ball to push and delay it's reaction until further downlane.

I'm putting up a couple of more vids on the Inertia to show how much it pushes down lane with the mb left of thumb drill. Take a look and see if that is what you're looking for. Hope this helps some....

I think you would get more of an arc reaction out of the Robo....however you may want to put some delayed reaction on the surface because it is a strong coverstock.

I second the delayed reaction on the robo, the cover is so strong that with the one I have being at 1500 it still tend to want to roll pretty early. It is also drilled for more length then I normaly have my stuff drilled for.

Thanks for the responses. I guess my main question is, if my Robo is drilled with the pin right of the ring finger and the MB is right of the thumb, after the shot breaks down like it did and I cant carry the corners.

How should I drill the other Robo or Mean Machine to combat the shot changing? I shot 183 the second game, then switched to a Animal with the pin above the ring finger and MB and weight hole in the same area as the first Robo. Shot 241 with an open with the Animal.

My drilled Robo does arc, but I want my other stuff do that also, but on a broken down shot.

The box on the balls says 2-2.5 pins. I try and get all me stuff that way from what I was told. They give the driller more options?

Typically yes, if it's too long, then we can't place under or if it's too short, we can't place over fingers either. Generic request for me is a 2-3 pin and top 3.

I'd prefer to go with the Mean Machine on this as it can turn over on the backend harder compared to the Robo. I'd go with a pin under ring about 3.75-4 and the mb at about 3.25-3.5 from pap. This should still offer you the backend finish you need to kick out the corners in carrydown.

Thank you as always for reading and helping this old man with his layouts. I guess now my question would be, should I drill the MM with the MB to the right of the thumb or left to get the ball to lay off on the broken down shot or hooking conditions?

I would say go to the left with the MB placement. It will greatly tame the ball down so when the lanes start to go it will not react as violently
