For the Track faithful....
« on: May 17, 2007, 11:09:11 AM »
What started your Track craze?  What Track balls have you owned?

I believe for me it was sometime in 1995, while I was working in a bowling alley.  One day after work, I got a couple of lanes just for fun and giggles.  Anyway, the owner of the house came up to me and said, "Hey, throw this for a while."  It was a Track NRG.  My scores absolutely sucked, but I loved seeing that ball hook, so I bought it from him, and put minimal effort in to learning the ball or the game-I was just having fun.  Unfortunately when I bowled sometime in '96, the ball was stolen from me.

So I went back into the market for another ball.  Remembering the fun I had with the NRG, I just decided to stick with Track, so I bought a Sensor Xcel(I want to say I bought this one in '99).  The hook wasn't nearly as large as the NRG, but it was alot of fun to go down and in with.  That ball I kept for a very long time until a gave it to a friend of mine not too long ago who is just learning the game.

After that(Maybe in 2000) I bought a Champ, and T.K.O Contender.  Funny thing is, I had no clue about what these balls did either, other than it was Track, and "it looked cool".  Keep in mind, I still knew absolutely nothing about this game.  To date, my high sanctioned game(300-2001,2004) are with these two.  I've retired them recently, but I'll never give these up.

Track Silencer-Can't remember when I got this one.  But I remember the hook wasn't so great with this one, but it has become one hell of a spare ball.

Track Phenom-I don't remember when I bought this one either, but I do know this was the last ball I bought based on looks, and no knowledge of this game.  A couple of months ago, I did record my highest sanctioned series (783) to date.  At this point, I was still doing it for sheer fun.  I bowled bad...I bowled okay...I didn't care, it was just for kicks....until October of 2006.

My brother(who is the reason I started bowling in the first place) decided to get back into bowling, and started the smack talk.  That put the competitive side of me into motion.  So, I started reading, researching, talking to those who bowl well week in and week out, learned what drillings my balls had, etc.  First thing I noticed, was the 4 out of 5 balls I had were all stack leverage-no variety at all.  And then I looked at my equipment, and decided to get them all resurfaced, and plugs replaced.  This alone improved my game, but I wanted more.

In the league I was in, I'm sure I had the oldest equipment out.  So I found trackbowling.com, and gained more knowledge while working on my footwork, release, speed, finding my lines, etc.

When that slowly started coming together, I wanted to start acquiring more up to date equipment.  This is where the Mean Machine(January '07),  Power Machine(January '07), Phoenix (March '07), and Total NV (April '07) come in.  That mixed with the years of knowledge I forced into my brain in a few months brought me up from a 173 mid way through the season, to 212 to finish.  The last 5 weeks, I did not shoot lower than 720.  Lol, and to think, I'm just getting started (hopefully).

And I can't wait for them to come out!  There should be a replacement GP2, or something even MORE aggressive?  Does anyone have any info?  Track's going to have anew website (July 1st) new leader, new equipment, and a new future.  Once again, I can't wait for it!

I started with one of the best balls in the world - the Arsenal Artillery.  I can't tell you how good it looked, especially for a Mediocre bowler such as myself.  I loved the reaction on the ball (read my review) and can't wait for my Mean Machine, and eventually something stronger from the future Track.  I have a great feeling about this, and can't get my mind off the subject!

First Track I had was the Phenom Unleashed and I still love it when i find enough oil to use it. The reason I liked it over other heavier oil balls I had tried at the time was it that it doesn't have the typical early roll that most oilers have.
Since then I have had quite a few and have really liked all of them on their proper condition.
Others that I have had in order or purchase.
Rule
Rule Delta 1
Elite Remix
Robo Rule
Machine
Mean Machine
Solution Power Plus Ex
Threat
Power Machine
Equation
I still have all of them except for the Rule which cracked, I actually still have it too but now it is just a core.

I started with the Delta 1, which was introduced by Rick, then I got the Flaming T as a spare ball, just because of the look of it. I just got a Mean Machine lately, and I am about to get a Power Machine because I like the way how the Mean Machine runs and would like to try with another Machine line product.

First Track ball I purchased was the Hex. I was throwing a Zone Pro Azure at the time and it was too aggressive so I wanted something weaker. My pro shop pointed me to the Hex and it was all over from there. I purchased and threw mostly Track from that point forward. I still throw Track and have a handful of balls, but for now, I'm with Visionary.

As for Track balls that I've had, hmmm.....

Hex
Voodoo
Freak
Freak Out
Mutant Mania
Super Freak
Phenom
Phenom Unleashed
Phenom Unleashed II
Heat Remake
Solution
Solution PP EX
Machine
Mean Machine
Strike Machine
Inertia
Arsenal Angular
Arsenal Reactive
Arsenal Artillery
Slash
Red Slash
Freak A Zoid
Desert Heat
Blue Heat
Animal
Animal Untamed
Crunch Time
Rule
Rule GP2
Rule Delta 1
Equation 2
Sheer Havoc
Hex Darkside
Mojo
Spell
Thrash
Threat
Triple Threat
Xception
Xception 5.0

That's what I can think of for now. I'm sure I've missed some though. Although, it appears that I've owned and thrown almost every ball they made since the Hex!! Yikes, I'm a ball whore!!

My first Track ball was also my first ¡¥finger-tipped¡¦ ball; it was a 12 lb Track Stomp. The Stomp was a good ball, though at that time I really didn¡¦t have enough knowledge to differentiate a good ball from a bad one. Soon after, I got the 12lb Storm Xit as my heavy oil ball, and along with my spare, they became my arsenal for the next eighteen months.

I decided to move up to 14lbs, after one too many pocket 5-pin (!) ¡V I¡¦m only 5¡¦6, 120 lbs. My new driller recommended the Brunswick Swamp Monster and Columbia Messenger Ti Pearl to me, and both turned out to be exceptional. Even now I still have the Swamp Monster as my heavy-loaded particle ball; it probably has done less than 150 games and is still in top shape.

Two weeks after the above purchase, I went back to my new driller, because I wanted to expand my arsenal. This time, he recommended the Track EMB xF (light loaded particle pearl) to me as the mid-heavy, and the Brunswick Power Groove as the light oil.

The surface of the EMB xF was changed by my driller straight away; he ¡¥dulled¡¦ it as he felt a box finish would be a tad too similar to my Messenger Ti Pearl.

I hated my EMB xF at first. I couldn¡¦t get it to work, in league, in practice or in tournaments. It didn¡¦t hit that hard, and the reaction and the shape were just not what I was used to. At the same time I was having so much success with my Messenger, the EMB xF was simply just put away.

My EMB xF got a second look from me, when the cover of my Messenger died (!!). To my surprise, the EMB xF started scoring well for me; really well in fact to this day my highest game (278) and series are both from the EMB xF. The EMB xF was so versatile that I could use it in nearly all conditions bar the extreme. It turned out to be one of my all time greats.

Nowadays, I hardly ever bowl anymore due to various injuries, but whenever I do, the first ball out of bag is always the Track RevMaster (!!!!). Its strong core weak cover combo really matches up my game. In THS it NEVER overreacts, and I can always ¡¥firm it up¡¦ or swing it depending on condition. Even though I do not bowl often, and I still have fourteen NIB in storage, if ever I come across a NIB RevMaster, I would not hesitate to buy it.

Along with the original Inferno and the EMB xF, the unassuming RevMaster ranks along side the best I have ever rolled. To think the reasons I bought it in the first place were because of the cool name, the blue colour and the orange swirl!

The first track ball that I ever had was the Green Pearl Stomp, great ball for medium.  shot my first honor score with that ball.

Have had a few tracks since:

Crunch Time
Animal
Mean Machine
and a few more just can't think of them.

Track Stomp Pearl!

My one and only ball from Track.  Great ball!

Favorite Track product - Clean & Dull.  I recently found some at a local golf, tennis, bowling shop and bought all they had left!
