FOR ME the first ball I grab during league is the Heat Blast. Over the last couple of weeks that ball and I have developed an extreme love affair
. It just works on any lane condition that face. The tournaments I have bowled recently were not super demanding conditions, but the ball I have used almost exclusively during those tournaments has been the Blue Heat. Remember, if you read my review I altered the surface a bit adding a touch of Magic Shine. If I start with it and the midlane starts to go I can grab the Blast and play the exact same line.

The second ball I pull out if the lanes are on the heavy side is the Aggressive. I use this ball too try and read the pattern.
So I use two balls for lane reading.
Now which ball do I use when the lights go on all depends on what the lanes are like.

Tournaments: I usually start with the Havoc to read the lanes, and then go up or down from there. If it's reading the conditions well, I stay with that ball. If I need a stronger piece, I move to the Diablo or RoboRule, if I need something weaker, the VP2 or Panic...

For tournaments I pull the first ball I pull out is the Mojo. This light particle has a good arc and allows me to line up since it doesn't jump off the dry and will not skid through the breakpoint.

Tournaments may be the either the Reactive or the Xception. Just depends on the hearsay and if I get to watch another squad bowl and see what they might be like.
