Freak-A-Zoid
« on: March 23, 2005, 01:09:43 AM »
Continuing with ball reactions for others...

This is not to brag...well maybe a little  This past weekend was the TNBA Eastern Regional Rhodman tournament in DE.  It's 8 games of qualifying on Saturday, cut field in half, 4 more games, cut to the cash and then 4 more games before determining top 5.  My wife (ckchappy) was 10th after 8 games.  She then proceeds to average 239 with her Freak-A-Zoid for the next 8 games to qualify 1st.  She lost in the stepladders though.  The Freak-A-zoid was so smooth and it just read the oil the whole way down.  Just a continuous arc.  It allowed her to get just inside the track area and with the early reving core, she got tremendous carry.  Since we were both near the top, I got a chance to see most of her last 4 games (after the cut to the cash the men are interspersed with the women).  The ball was so smooth off the dry.  It easily gave her lots of room because when she missed a little right, it didn't overreact and when she got it in it still hit. Other woman were struggling with over/under.   There were a few shots where she tugged it and I was thinking "weak 10" but the 10 was just slapped out by the 6.

The Freak-A-zoid is a sleeper strong ball. It easily held it's own against Absolutes, TAs and Ultimates.  She mostly uses it, along with her Animal, in our Travel League and was high average at one point (I haven't looked at the sheets in a month or so).  She may chime in here and give the specifics of the layout since she drilled it but if I recall correctly the pin is up above the fingers, about 5" from her axis.  No extra hole.

Wow that's awesome! Congrats go out to her on bowling so well. One of the Junior bowlers at home loves his Freak-A-Zoid. He has his Pin over the bridge and CG around midline. Nice strong but, smooth move on this ball with this layout.

I'm bowling the Western Region Rhodman this Saturday as well. It will be my first one! Congrats go out to your wife ckchappy again!

Thanks!  Yes, the layout on my Freak-A-Zoid is pin above fingers, 5 inches.  This ball is amazing.  I never leave home without it.  While a lot of women seemed to be fighting the lane condition with jumpy, super strong equipment (you know those "best-selling" pieces I am referring to!) I was able to relax with my FAZ.  As long as my release was clean the ball struck.  I agree with what Chappy says, this is a sleeper strong ball, but the kind that doesn't get you into trouble.  It allows me to move inside the track area without sacrificing hit AT ALL.  It's a beast in second shifts and blown-up lanes that still require some recovery.  It just rolls so evenly!  I love it's predictability and the fact that it's so clean.  Everyone should have one of these in their bag.  It works on so many different conditions!  Great ball all around.

The Freakazoid has been very nice to me. It can be said of a couple of other Track balls out right now, but the Freakazoid is consistant, predictable and smooth. An ultimate benchmark ball.

Rick,

Yeah, I heading out there this year.  The squad times I have aren't the best (i.e 9PM singles/doubles).  Our group is too big to fit in the centers.  We bowled there 3 years ago and they hooked quite a bit at night.
