Right now I am stating to get into more tournaments and I am tring to get together a wide variety for different conditions. Right now it goes danger zone dulled down for heavy, x-factor for clean backends with med heavy oil/carry down med oil, player for control situations. I was thinking about getting a freak out to use instead of the x-factor(very old, knicked up bad, several plug jobs). would this be a good thing? Would it be as strong in the back end, since its a particle polished, would i be able to use it for heavy oil?. Any suggestions would be great, also if anyone has one what else can I expect from the freak out? Thanks ahead of time. Oh yea forgot, is it anything like a rock star, its the only particle ball I have ever had success with?

The difference between the Freakout and X Factor is coverstock. The Freakout has a stronger coverstock, and is less angular...it will also handle more oil than the X Factor.
Honestly the Freakout would make a better oil ball than a Danger Zone. Dulled down to the same grit the Freakout will handle much more oil than the Danger Zone.
You get several things out of the Freakout....predictability, strong impact at the pins, and overall an extremely versatile ball. I had the X Factor a long time ago, and it is not near the ball overall that the Freakout is.
With some polish the Danger Zone would probably be a better choice to use on fresh backends than the Freakout. You have that reactive vs particle difference as far as backend reaction goes.

Hey slimey,
I agree with Ex (Big Me), the Freakout is a stronger ball than the DZ and would serve you better to drill it that way. The DZ is a better med condition ball.
If I remember the Rock Star correctly, I'd say the Freakout is more angular than that but handles about the same amount of oil. Hope this helps...
