Getting back into league play - need a new ball
« on: February 06, 2014, 10:47:45 AM »
Getting back into league play, looking for a strong ball that will be used mostly on an oily THS. Through 8 weeks I'm at a 215 average with a few high 6's and a 7 series. I've watched several videos on youtube to estimate that my throw is 18-19mph with around 350-400 revs, and I am more comfortable throwing from left to right than when I have to straighten my shot out. Right now I'm throwing from the second dot on the left with my left foot out to the 10-12 board at the break point with my two lane #1 balls (Big Curve and Supernova xp). I use the big curve when the lanes are a little drier and the Supernova when the pattern is a little fresher. have been sanding them both at 1000 abralon. Not sure on the exact drilling specs, but told the local pro shop to drill them aggresively, as I want to get the most hook out of my throw.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Tried to get enough info in my description, but I'm an amateur that doesn't have a strong knowledge of the terminology yet. Not necessarily set on buying track, but have heard a lot of good things about them lately.

The new Lx16 is Track's strongest ball that I've found. (Hasn't been released yet, I believe the 16th is the worldwide date, but I managed to get one last week. Glad I did).
I drilled mine pin down to smooth it out some, very controllable, im throwing 17-18mph, medium ish revs, on a THS it clears the front part of the lane and has a nice strong grab when it hits the dry, doesn't overreact though until the lanes burn up a few games in.

I also have a 910A, reads a little later, more angular on the back end. Hooks less by about 4-5 boards for me though.

I would give the newer stuff a try, the Mx10 I imagine will be pretty nice as well, though I haven't picked one up yet.

If you want more aggressive, I would go with the Lx16. Ive also had good luck with the 920A and 910A as well, though they aren't as aggressive as the Lx16.

Thanks for your input, I've got a pretty normal span on my drillings so I'm hoping to find an alley nearby where I can test a ball or two before I make the purchase. Don't want to make another $200+ investment that I'm unhappy with like the c-system 3.5 that never rolled well for me. ha

Thanks!

I second the Lx16 look for this ball in a couple weeks, please read my signature block that will help a great deal as well, because I totally agree any investment that you spend your hard earned money on is worth getting its full potential.

Thank you. Since I've got a few weeks before the Lx16 comes out, I'll try to get a local pro to show me how to determine the specs of my throw more precisely by then. I'll also try to get a short video uploaded on here of my throw, which may also help in determining a good ball for me.

Thanks again!

Yes I like it, but it is very strong, I changed surface to 4000 and can barely throw it on my heavier THS. But thats not what I bought it for, but when I do throw it, it just keeps coming...I throw my Disturbed more...I use that on heavy THS, first ball out of my bag is the Asylum, which is incredible. Im going to buy the Zero Gravity, my pro shop guy is throwing it on our heavier ths league and it rolls incredible..

Personally I loved the C-System 3.5, and I am always keeping my eye out for a NIB one.  The fact that not many liked it should make it relatively inexpensive if I ever do find one.

Thanks for the info. That's what I'm looking for is a ball where there is no doubt that it is going to come back.
