With the fall season rapidly approaching and local toureys right around the corner, its time I put together a new arsenal. I am going to list what I have currently and what I will be replacing. I would like to know if you guys see any gaps and even recommend drill patterns for the new stuff I am getting. Here goes:
Heavy
- Have a Super Freak, replacing with an Animal
Med/Hvy
- Have an Unleashed and I am not getting rid of that.
Med/Carrydown
- Have both Thrash and Triple Threat and would like to replace them both. I was thinking about a Rule, but it might be too strong. Help me out with this one.
Med
- Crunch Time, this one isnt going any where.
Med/Light
- Darkside on the way, we'll see how this one goes. If I dont like it, then I may get a Crash and drill it weak.
Light/Dry
- Nothing right now, but a Dry Heat could be in my future.
Ok, let me know what you guys think. Suggestions, drill recommendations.....

Rock, Just got back from the Ace trade show, after talking to Del, and Bob Learn, the Rule might be the ball to replace your Super Freak, the Unleashed reacts to heavy oil better for me then either of my Animals. For Med/Carrydown you could go a few routes, you could go with both the regular and Sheer Havoc, the Sheer and Crash, or the best thing would be a Freak-A-Zoid then either a Crash, or Sheer Havoc. For dry you have a few options, the Dry Heat is awesome on dry, but I haven't thrown a Hexplosion yet which looks like a dry lane ball. If push comes to shove for dry, Del told me there is a AMF warehouse in Buffalo that has tons of NIB Boxing Gloves. Hope this helps

hmmm...boxing gloves....anyway, i'd try and fit an animal untaimed in there somewhere it is a terrific ball, the crash is very very skid flippy, so even drilling it weak wouldn't make it a very good drylane ball.. the freakazoid should be very arcy and easy to control, as is the dry heat and that will just cover less boards.
-
Rock,
What Sean didn't mention about the Phenom Unleashed being better on oil for him than either of his Animals is that the Unleashed is sanded to 400 grit. Surface is a huge part of the reaction of a ball. For me, as mentioned several times the Animal sanded down to about 600 grit or so is the best ball I have ever used on oil.
For the medium with carrydown you have several options, but the Freakazoid really sounds like it would fill that slot nicely. With the carrydown present the Sheer Havoc would not be a bad choice either.
Dry conditions.....tricky right now, because the Hexplosion has a control core in it. The hook rating on that and the Dry Heat are close....but from what I have heard from the Track guys the hexplosion will be a bit more tame off of the breakpoint.
Sean has just about everything in their line, if you want to know how they work for him don't hesitate to check with him. He will have a Hex plosion and Freakazoid drilled up before end of the next week.....keep an eye out for his mini review.
I hope this helps, message me if you have any other questions.

You "MUST" get an Untamed. It is a Mutant reactive and the truest rolling ball on the market. Great for med heavy all the way to light. The Freak-a-zoid looks like a big winner for medium oil. Weight block looks like a roller so it should be real effective with a sym. morph. core. I like the Rule for heavy oil. I like load load particles or sanded reactives, they just seem to work well. Hope this helps.

My winter arsenal will look like this.
Unleashed - Love this ball for the Wet with a little back-end.
Rule - Hopefully my carry down ball.
Freak Out - My favorite ball for heavy medium with dry back end.
Freak-A-Zoid - Hopefully my ball for the walls.
Hexplosion - Hopefully my ball for later blocks when the back end really dries up.
Dry Heat - my ball for the extreme light stuff.
Boxing Glove - Spares and the ridiculously dry stuff.
-
Rock,
The Rule may be a choice for heavy if it's as strong as I hear. However, the Animal is still extremely good for heavy oil.
I think slight particle handle carrydown better. The Sheer Havoc would be a good choice for the Med/Carrydown slot. Possibly a FreakAZoid if the core is strong enough (looks like it will be). You might need a slight surface tweek to help them both out.
I hear that the WOW2 cover on the HexPlosion is slightly stronger than what was on the Freak Out so it will probably be too much for dry. Of course, it depends on what you consider dry. The High RG core should definately help and the particle will help control downlane. That's one of those balls that you may have to wait till some reviews come in before really knowing what it'll do. I had a Hex-treme that was very good on later blocks but was still way too strong for dry. The Dry Heat still may be the best option.

Rock,
I agree with the many posts talking about the Untamed, but it will not end up filling a slot that you currently have open. It is versatile and will cover alot of conditions. If you keep the factory surface on it and the factory surface on the Phenom Unleashed the Animal Untamed will roll sooner. Currently it is my favorite Track ball.
For the carrydown condition though you want something that will retain its energy really well and have some pop on the backends. The Untamed is a must have ball, it may give you some overlap-----but this is one ball I do not mind seeing overlap with because it carries awesome!!!

Thanks for all the replies so far, but gosh this is confusing for me. From what I get out of what you guys are telling me, this is what I have come up with so far:
Hvy - Animal
Med/Hvy - Unleashed, Untamed or Rule
Med/Carrydown - Sheer Havoc
Med - Crunch Time
Med/Light - Darkside or Crash
Dry - Dry Heat or Hexplosion
There how's that look?? If thats ok, now I just have to pick a ball in the categories I have more than one listed.

FWIW.
my dream asrenal( I have some now) from track would be:
* all surfaced to cover heavy to light
Backed reaction balls
Unleashed - pin up/ mb strong
Rule - pin up/ md strong
Crash? maybe . pin up/ flip layout
Midlane reaction Balls
Animal - pin down/MB on or past val
Untamed - pin down/ MB on or past VAL
Dry Heat - pin down/ cg near pap
special stuff and some test balls
spares: Plastic ball
* pin way up 3" from pap and MB or cg at 20 degress.
* 315 deg layout.

An overseas ball that Track was supposed to release here. Ask around, quite a few of the users have or have had them and have said good things about them. Light load particle pearl(I think) around the Hex core?? I am going to polish mine a bit and use it for the light stuff!!

Hey Rock,
Sorry bud, just got back from (hopefully) my last Reno bowling trip for awhile. To simplify and fill your current gaps, I'd replace the SF with the Animal for heavy oil. Then you have a choice of the Sheer Havoc to FreakaZoid to replace the TT/Thrash, the Sheer should be more angular than the FreakaZoid, just your choice of looks. I'd also gloss the Darkside to make sure it gets down the lane cleaner/easier than the CrunchTime to help separate the coverstocks a little more. Just get hold of me if you need anything else bud, thanks.

Rock.....I agree with Rick bud, you need an Animal for oil. I know you are going over your arsenal a bit......but if you think that Super Freak covers boards in oil....get an Animal.
Glad to hear that your Darkside is working out. Hopefully there will be some honor scores to follow!

Hey Everybody,
It has been a very long time since I posted anything...but here is my arsenal for the upcoming fall...any inputs would be appreciated.
Heavy - Phenom
Heavy/Med - either a Mutant (undrilled) or Unleashed (haven't bought yet)
Med/Carrydown - Freak Out
Med - Threat
Med/Dry - Havoc
Dry - Dry Heat
Spare - White Dot
Misc Balls I have: TPC Shooter XL
Some basic info: I'm right handed, Med revs/Med Speed, my PAP is 5.25 over and 1/8 up. just want to get some basic feedback. Have bowled PBA Shot League over this past summer and has taught me alot about my game.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I don't see how you have a Havoc for med/dry unless it's drilled very weak and super shiny. Freak Out, Threat, and Havoc seems like a bit of overkill. Other than that, it looks good.
