Drilling Help
« on: May 17, 2006, 01:34:54 AM »
I just received an Artillery Arsenal and need advice drilling it.First let me state the reason i got this ball is because the center i bowl in is putting more oil out on the lanes for our summer league and i am having a hard time getting the ball to the pocket untill the middle of the second game using a big rig diesel drilled 41/2 by 4 with pin above ring finger.Age is 64,pap is 41/4 over and 1/2 up,right handed, speed is 15 mph,i play up ths boards but can belly a few boards if i have to.Thanks for your help.

I would do 2 things....I would lay the ball out stronger than the Big Rig, thus somewhere around 3 3/8 stacked in my opinion...and....only place the pin if possible 1 1/2 to 2 inches above the midline....I would keep the pin no higher than finger line, as with the pin above your fingers on the Big, it helps the ball get down the lane as the core is taller and it takes longer for it to get to its PSA....so, by placing the pin lower than where it is on the big, it will also make the Artillery check sooner than that Big...

If, after these 2 suggestions, if this is what you do, you want the ball to move sooner...than I would suggest some scotchbrite on the surface to take some shine off....I would leave the surface as is right now ont he Artillery until you try it out...then lets see what happens...
