Going to Reno....again
« on: June 17, 2004, 07:02:32 PM »
Hey Guys,

I know Carl put this out on the misc forum but I thought I throw it out here too.  Carl and I will be in Reno on Wed 6/23 at Starlite Lanes at around 2pm.  If anyone is out there at that time, pls come by and join us if you want or just say hi.  The 40 framer and BJ's is going on at that house.

We'll be plastered in Track, C-G and Ten Pins logos or just look for the David and Goliath combo.

Hope to see some of you guys if you're around....

PS. Personal thanks to Srlunatic for meeting and bowling with me on my last trip, it was a blast.

That would be interesting, Carl with a bald head, might disract the other bowlers so his team would do better LOL. Hope you guys do Track proud out there, and might I add, GO TRACK. Be sure to post your ball choices and lines when you get back. Thanks

Paul,

The only thing to report is that Rick and made it to a few bowling alleys, but instead of bowling we decided to play pinball each time!

Actually we met up and had a great time. Rick is an even better person in person. Since he is familiar with Reno he showed me and the guys around a bit.

AND last, certianly not least....I have some pictures you guys just have to see. I hope to post them at some point.....may just email them to you Paul. I don't want to post them for everyone if Rick does not want me to.

Great guy, super to hang around with.

THANKS RICK!!! We have to do it again some time!

Hey Paul,

My only report is that I had to go to the ATM twice.  Unfortunately as Carl stated, we did better in pinball then bowling...lol.

Same here Ex, thanks, it was a lot of fun.

I thought he was going to say "even shorter in person"...

Carl, show the pics to anybody you like.  Just remember guys, "Objects are closer and larger then they appear"...

Guys, the "Objects are closer and larger than they appear" comment made by Rick was just him covering for himself. He actually appears about a foot taller in these pictures.

Mike,

Sounds good to me. Let me know. Summer is best for me to do anything.

Rick has seen me bowl and knows that I should be playing pinball.

Ex..

When does the Hoinke run through????

For giggles we should see about a World Team Challenge event..that would be a serious learning experience....

Will check around and see what I can find..

Mike,

I believe the Hoinke Classic runs until Thanksgiving, and then picks back up in January some time.

Check with Rick, he talked to the guy a little more than I did, but I believe we were told this week in Reno that the World Team Challenge is done.

Hey Guys,

The "old" Hoinke schedule that I knew of ran up to Thanksgiving to host the Super Hoinke during that weekend.  Shot the Super in the early 80's when a few of you were still watching cartoons(and maybe before Loose5682 was even born)...lol.

The guy at BJ's told Ex and I that Team Challenge was done, I can double check with a friend(Peter Hagin) who usually travels around to do their brackets.  Peter also worked the Storm doubles last yr at Tennessee, he's much more knowledgeable about these tourneys then I am.

Mike, sounds like fun, I'd be glad to bowl (or play pinball) with you guys again.   I'm with Ex on the time frame though, summer June/July is best for me also(shop slows down).  Keep us posted on what other tourneys you find....if you're really a glutten for punishment, we could meet in Chicago(Hoffman Estates) for the Peterson Classic...let us know.  Anyone else got ideas or want to join us??

Here is some more info...apparently it is a Megabuck Team Event...

National Bowling Stadium & Eldorado Hotel/Casino host new High Roller STORM
Team Masters
August 22 - 27, 2004 are the dates for the 1st ever megabuck team
competition!
The 5-person team event is all match play from start to finish but is not
single elimination. It features Singles events, Sweepers, Brackets and
Sidepots as well.
Get your team together now! A $50,000 top prize is possible with just
80 teams. The cost is $700 per player which includes hotel room for the week
at Eldorado, entry into the team event, singles event and a new STORM high
performance ball and grips from Vise Inserts for each contestant.
Teams must be from the same state or contain bowlers who bowl in the
same ABC local association. Teams may contain 1 PBA member and 1 PBA Senior
and 1 PWBA member but Exempt PBA members and former PBA and PWBA National
champs are not eligible.
Watch your mailbox as brochures will be out soon.

700 bucks.........wow...but should be my pull from ABC's...woohoooo!!!...lol...I am up for it if anyone else is willing to give it a run...(Hey Rick...are we allowed to exchange a Storm Ball for a fine Track Ball???....;-)....
