GP2 drill suggestions
« on: January 31, 2005, 06:56:16 AM »
My Rule is drilled up with the pin to my PAP is 41/2 inches and the MB is right below my thumb and 51/2 inches out to the PAP. The Pin is about 13/4 right and is in the 2 o'clock position of my ring finger. Static weights are 1/4 thumb,  1oz top and 1/2 side. I have to make sure I get this ball down early and not hit up on the ball if there is lots of oil and lots of carry down. I will drill up a GP2 next week but wanted to get some thoughts from you guys that have drilled them and thrown them. My ball speed is about 15 and a stroker no less.
My thinking is to move the MB to the right and I know some of you like the pin above the ring finger and some like it below. I am anxious to see what you say.
your advice will be greatly appreciated.
thanks,

My GP2 is drilled pin just to the right of my ring, cg kicked towards my PAP,and the mass bias ending on my VAL. Ball is very early and aggressive, and will be used for the tourney floods I see around my area all the time. I am getting another one and will drill it like most of the rest of my equipment, pin under ring, cg in palm, mass bias under/left of thumb. The GP2 I have drilled up makes my Animal look like a spare ball, it goes so straight when comparing it to the GP2. I am sure the next GP2 I drill will be closer to the Animal in general, but will still be stronger as well!

jody,

What kind of reaction would you like to get out of the GP2 vs what you get from the Rule?

Most of my Track equipment is drilled to arc and not skid flip. Most of the houses I bowl in have the middle flooded and feather out from the 9 to edge. The Rule drilling does not allow me to come out of the flood into the drier and snap back to the pocket. I have to start closer to the dry area and feed the ball out instead of deep to the dry. To answer your question I want the GP2 drilled aggressive but not looking for a big snap or crossing a lot of boards.
thanks,

jody,

Clint's layout should not be too bad for what you are looking for. It stabilizes the core some so it will not JUMP....but the cover is going to be aggressive enough that it will still hook up in oil.

Hey Jody,

Placing the mb near or on val like Clint mentions is fine.  This will (like Big Me) states, get started sooner and won't be jumpy at all.  The only question left is placement of your pin, whether above, next to or below fingers is a question you can answer best.  Above will give you the most length, finger level = med length and below for early roll.  Your choice dependent upon how much oil you see on this particular shot.  Hope this helps...
