got the Havoc drilled up
« on: June 21, 2005, 08:23:42 AM »
Well, I added my 4th Track ball to my arsenal (now I have an Animal, Rule, Slash and Havoc). Thanks to Excaliber's suggestions for the layout, I went with the pin 4" away from my PAP and the MB right of the thumb 6 1/2" from my PAP. We placed the pin 2 1/2" above my midline. Original specs were 15 lbs., 2 oz. with 3 3/4 oz. top weight and a 4-5" pin.

My driller believes this will become a benchmark ball in the bag as well as a good ball to read lane conditions with. I can't wait to see how this ball will perform in my leagues around here. I haven't had one problem yet with any Track ball to date as far as performance and reliability, and I think the Havoc will continue the good looks I've had on the lanes. I will post more as I get more games under my belt.

Matt

Chitown: Yeah, I'm aware of the fact that this ball is a lot stronger than originally advertised by Track. My driller even made a possible suggestion on a weighthole if I want to get the ball into an earlier roll, as well as polishing it up if I don't like the reaction out of box. We will see in the coming days when I bowl league...

Indeed it is!!! I recently received one from another bowler. It has a 1 3/4" pin and was drilled 4 x 4 1/4 with pin under RF and MB on VAL and weight hole straight down from center of grip thru and below the PAP. Where I bowl, the two houses are seldom much stronger than medium and medium heavy oil. This ball hooked more than any ball I ever had and never rolled out either. You could play as deep as you liked and the ball would always get back to the pocket. The problem here is it was a 9 pin ball.

I sanded to 1000 and then 1500 and it didn't help. tenpinspro told me to polish it and see what happens so I sanded to 800 grit and put two coats of 3M Finesse-It II on it and burned it into the ball a bit and made the ball really shiny like a peralized ball and volia, I had a ball that hit very hard, send scouts flying and carred most everything. It is so good, that it has now become the first ball out of my bag. I was really amazed that this ball performed that well polished that shiny.

This is another example of why I switched to Track equipment 3 months or so ago.
Track equipment seems to match up to me very well.

You know I had a havoc drilled it stacked leverage. What a mistake. This ball was a beast! The carry was great. It would crush racks. I ended up giving it to a friend of mine because I drilled it too strong for what I needed at the time. There are a lot of these balls for sale at great prices. I may have to pick one of these up again. Except I will drill it real weak.

chitown, try polishing it hard like I did mine. The ball now gets good length and a very strong back-end.

Matt...  You'll have to let us know how you like the ball.  I was talking with John about it last night at the shop.

Good luck with it...
