Track Reaction Plus
« on: February 15, 2005, 07:25:27 AM »
Does the Track Reaction Plus have any polish in it? I use it on my Storm Triple X approx every 6 games or so and it makes the ball look like I polished it with some 2500-3000 grit polish and burned it in........and of coarse as advertised, it really does improve the balls performance. I also use it on my Impulse Zone which is a polished reactive. Works great on both balls.

The Impulse Zone is a light load particle. And yes, the Reaction plus is a good cleaner for reactive balls. For particle balls, I love the Black Magic particle cleaner.

Reaction Plus will not alter the surface of the ball. Also, Clean N Dull will not alter the surface of the ball. Clean N Dull is a better cleaner for deep cleaning.

Thanks fellows. I use both each time I clean my balls. The Clean & Dull for cleaning and the Reaction Plus for polishing and adding tac to the ball. I used to use products from 2 other companies. I have now just recently begun using Track products and am really impressed. Looks like Track may have some of the better products on the market.

I have a bottle of Magic Shine that I am going to throw away. I've tried it 3-4 times and all it does for me is make my balls miss the break point and keep going straight.

It's funny how the only two products I use are Clean 'N Dull & Reaction Plus.  Both are awesome for prolonging the longevity of your equipment.

Hey Brickguy,

Couldn't tell you exactly if it has polish or not.  My understanding of the product is to simply clean surfaces without adjusting the covers (shining or dulling).  I'll ask Brian and see what he has to say, thanks.

Hey Brickguy,

Brian's reply was that it is a cleaner and a slip agent, somewhat similar to our Delayed Reaction but with no polish.  Just curious, are you applying this by hand or on a spinner?  I guess my whole 130lbs just doesn't create the same pressure as you guys...  Hope this answers your question....

Hey Brickguy,

If you don't want as much shine working on a spinner, I'd take some pressure off of it.  That works for me....

Rick, are you talking about the Reaction Plus or ball polish. On the Reaction Plus and a lot of pressure gives me a great shine and about what I want plus adds tac to the ball. If I do that with polish such as Storm Xtra Shine or similar, that's too much for me even though the shine will look like the ball with Reaction Plus, it is too slick and will slide thru the break point.

Does Track's Clean and Sheen 1000 Grit contain polish?

I normally use Columbia 2000 Grit Polish and I apply very lightly, use moderate pressure and don't burn that polish in as it can be too much for me if I burn it in.

I do however burn the ball with water when done applying polish. It gets rid of all fine dust, residue, etc.

For me, Reaction Plus does not polish the ball.  It simply cleans the heck out of it and makes it look like it is brand new.  It does not alter the surface of the ball.  However, Clean 'N Dull will strip the polish off of a ball eventually.  That is why I use Reaction Plus on all of my polished balls and Clean 'N Dull on all of my dull, smooth, or matte finish balls.

Unless the usage of the phrase "slipping agent" has changed, I've always heard it used (including by Mo Pinel in one of his BTM columns) to describe a product that forms a bond to the surface of a ball, clogs the ball's pores, and creates a longer skid with a reduced back end.

Readbear, for me the Reaction Plus does not create longer skid with reduced back end. For me and the conditions I bowl on in two different houses, it works just the opposite of what you say Mo Pinel said. For me, the ball turns harder and it increases the backend,A lot of products add tac. Storm's Reacta Clean adds tac to the ball according to Storm, but it doesn't clog the pores.

I used to use Renew-It as well as Hook-It, but quit using them because I felt that any product that you have to wear procetive gloves with plus avoid inhaling the fumes from it, is not a safe product to use. Also there have been reports on this site about the inconsistancy and color of both Renew-It and Hook-It from one bottle to another. Also reports about those Neo Tac products hurting the covers of some balls. All of this led me to search for other cleaners. I've heard nothing but good about Track products, so I decided to try them.

Whether Clean & Dull gets oil out of a ball as well as Hook-It, I don't know. It does not alter the surface of balls. Leaves polished balls polished and dull balls dull. I use it on pearlized balls, polished balls and dull balls. I follow up with the Reaction Plus on both the pearlized balls and polished balls after using Clean & Dull. To sum it up, whether the Reaction Plus clogs the balls pores, I don't know, but I do know for me it enchances the balls performance as well as add shine to the ball if you burn it in hard enough. For someone like yourself, you might not like it as well as I do. I don't know.

Clean and Sheen is meant to, as far as I have learned, to get rid of 400 grit sandpaper's sanding marks and to polish a ball to about 1000 grit. Its main intent is to allow drillers to finish a plug after the cap has been routed off, all in one step, much (exactly) like Ultimate's Quick Cut and Polish.

Jim,

You do far too much of this "burning" in of polish. Seriously, be careful.
Most times, it does not need to be burnt in, as much as you seem to do.

I was referring to the Reaction Plus.

No, it is considered to be our compound finish.

For me, it does bring it back to about 1000 grit (flat).  Quick cut seems to be just a little grittier.

Charlest, you sure you don't run a shop?  I think I told you this a year ago...you know too much...lol.

but tenpinspro's comment that he heard from a manufacturer's rep that it contains a slipping agent concerns me a bit. I don't want to necessarily question his source,
