WHEN I FIRST GOT MY GP2 A FEW WEEKS AGO ITS WAS BREAKING OUT OF THE HOUSE.NOW AFTER ABOUT 20 GAMES ITS NOT COMING UP ON THE BACKEND.NORMALLY MY SPEED IS ABOUT 16.5-17.BUT NOW I AM THROWING IN THE MID 15'S AND MOVE 10 BOARDS RIGHT AND ITS JUST REACTING THE WAY IT DID NEW.GRANTED I KNOW THAT THERE IS ALOT OF OIL ON THE LANES,MORE THAN NORM.THE LANES ARE WOOD AND THEY JUST DON'T BRAKE DOWN FOR ME,I AM OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS.MY DRILL IS,THE PIN IS ABOUT 1 1/2" BELOW THE RING FINGER WITH A 9/16"AXIS HOLE 3 3/8" OUT.

My buddy has one drilled pin above the fingers, cg kicked out with a weight hole, and it's a monster. He's been shooting 700's with it since he started using it. That drilling looks like a good one so far.

have you cleaned the ball? If not try some clean and dull.

IN MY AREA THERE IS ONLY 2 OR 3 GUYS THAT USE TRACK BALLS.COULD THIS BE A PROBLEM WITH GETTING BALL DRILL,BECAUSE TRACK IS NOT A BIG BALL SELLER HERE AND THE PRO SHOPS JUST DON'T KNOW TRACK EITHER.YES I'VE CLEAN MY BALL,IT JUST DOES NOT REACT,AND I THROW WITH A LOT OF REVS.

more oil equals less hook on any surface. When you clean the ball, do you sand it as well? The ball comes out of the box pretty dull, and using it will make it glaze up. If there is more oil on the lanes than when you started using it, you could try dulling it to a 400 or 320 grit. If that doesn't work, you could try shining the ball, as the "no hook" may be the ball using all its energy before the backend of the lane. hope this helps

You are probably facing the ball needing cleaned badly. Take a good look at the ball, does it appear to have more of a shine or gloss to it than it did when you got it? Lets not forget that the GP2, even though it has a ton of backend reaction, is still high load particle. Try taking a worn down scotchbrite pad, or even a grey scotchbrite pad, put some clean n dull on the scotchbrite and go over the surface lightly. YOU DO NOT NEED TO APPLY PRESSURE, the clean n dull will to its job of pulling the oil out of the ball.

This works, and it works very well.

BA5300, I guarantee you that what EXCALIBER said, works great. I use a Gray Scotch Brite Pad with the Clean & Dull and don't even press hard enough to leave any sanding lines in the ball. Do this by hand. Do not do it on a Spinner. Do 1/2 of the ball at a time and move Pad in small circles as you go over each half of the ball.

Hey BA5300,

I also agree the ball needs a deep cleaning. I'm pretty bad about my own maintenance at times but I've kept up with my GP2 because I could see all the dirt/oil that this ball can pick up.

Remember guys, any ball that creates high friction is doing so because it's grabbing and eating thru everything in it's way (otherwise, it would slide). When a ball can do that, it's eating thru all the dirt and oil that it encounters.

I.E. Spin a snow tire long enough in snow and slowly the tire will start to pack more and more snow in the treads, eventually it has to be cleaned or the snow will pack around the tire sealing the treads becoming a smooth surface.

I have also done Excaliber's method and it works great, I highly suggest it.

I had the same problem when I bought my Track Rule. Not the GP2, but after about 20 or so games, it looked almost dead to me.. When i went to bleed the ball of its oil, I was gettin so much out of it, that i just gave up, because it would not. Even after, it never did the same. SO i had it polished, and now throw it as my #2 ball.
