Shaggy,

The GP2, hands down. It rolls as early as the Animal but has more backend. The Super Freak has nice early roll but lacks on the backend. The Phenom would be closer to the GP2......but it cannot handle the oil that the GP2 can. Long heavy patterns are in trouble when they face this ball.

Hey Shaggy,

Another vote for the GP2 here, it is the strongest ball in comparison.

Thanks for the replies.  I am looking for a Track ball that can handle the heavy oil.  Buddies ProShop has a good deal on the Phenom, but I need something that can handle heavy oil.

Shaggy,

I wanted to post and let you know that I was able to throw my leverage pin, MB on VAL GP2 tonight. My buddy Todd has a MoRich Weapon of MB drilled overall pretty similar to my GP2.

All night he struggled getting a consitant reaction from the Weapon. He was standing 20 with it, and he had no area...he had to be dead on to get a strike. He decided the 10th frame of the second game that he wanted to try my GP2. He stood in the same place and shot the same line----it took off brooklyn rolling up about 5ft sooner. SO, needless to say he wanted to use my ball the rest of the night. The 3rd game he had to stand 34 and move his target inside 5 boards and he had room right all of the way out to 4 board. What a difference.
I am posting this because Todd's fingers are far smaller than mine, AND his thumb is about 3 sizes smaller than mine. He did all of this with a ball that he was not able to throw comfortably off of his hand.

He was happy, and I have now sold another GP2.

Excaliber,

How does the GP2 perform on lanes with carrydown?

Thanks,
Shaggy

i have mine, just have not drilled it yet. I did drill one for a team mate last week. He was throwing a phenom with good success, but do to a recent finger injury, he's gone back to a conventional drilling. I suggested the GP2 to him, and he said OK. This guy is basically an up 10 shooter, fairly firm speed, a little hand. He was throwing his GP2 last night, standing 25, throwing 15 at the arrows, drilled conventional. It makes his phenom look like a straight ball. This ball just does not quit. I see plenty of big hooking particles that start to hook and just die when the hit the pins. The GP2 is not a quitter. continuous roll and hook the entire length of the lane, with exceptional hit and carry.

to make a long story short, buy the GP2, you won't regret it!!

Brickguy, Shaggy,

Brickguy, the pattern is 39ft buffed to 45ft....it is a flat pattern, pretty dry outside of 4board---it is wet and then dry, no taper. So as you can see it is a fairly heavy pattern. In comparison with most of the other stuff I have.....I am able to throw the Xception on most shots I see and have success with it...not at this house, it may as well just be a polyester ball. So to be able to have the GP2 move when able to be left was unbelieveable. In comparison, I had to stand about 18 board with an Animal (out of box condition) and with this GP2 I had to stand 30.

Shaggy, the good thing about this ball is that it rolls quick, but it does not give up on the backend----unless you are trying to play it on too dry of conditions. I have discussed several times with tenpinspro(aka Rick, aka little me) about carrydown problems I have on my Tuesday league.....this was the first week I was really able to use the GP2. I used the one that is between the others...this one is drilled pin below bridge and MB on VAL....it finished nicely when nothing else would turn the corner.

Goodluck fellas,

EX, now my next question is whether this ball would have worked on 36-38' of oil with 30-35 units in the center? I bowl on mostly medium oil lanes and sometimes with carry down and dirty backends and other times, clean back ends....I never see any heavy oil.

Shaggy, I don't mean to be hi-hacking your post. I just felt this information might be good for everyone.

Brickguy,
That would depend on your hand. If you have alot of hand you would need to drill it weaker, if you don't have alot of hand then you would be fine. NOW.....with that said I can use my GP2 with the pin below the bridge on league patterns most of the weak. League pattern is 38ft buffed to 44, oil tapers to the outside, so it is a typical house shot. I had to play deep, but even if I got it outside too quick it did not roll out, it still finished hard.

Hope this info helps,

EX, that answers my question perfectly. I drill most of my balls Pin under RF and Pin under bridge with the MB in or close to the strong position and I don't have much hand. It looks like the key for this ball being successful for me is to make sure there is head oil. Once again, thanks for your help.

Brickguy,

No problem.

If you want the GP2 to shine, just swing the MB a little further right....between position 2 and 3 on their drill sheet. It will start up early.....but it will retain enough energy to give you kick on the backend as well.

GOODLUCK
