....but seriously, a cranker I bowl with at my Sunday morning sport shot league had his equipment stolen a few months ago. He was talking about it to a few people, and I was just thinking about the prices and value of bowling equipment. Stuff here's expensive...$400CAD for a high-performance ball including drilling and taxes, $320 for a medium-performance ball including drilling and taxes, and about $220 for a low-performance ball including drilling and taxes. A six ball roller is well over $200, and high quality shoes are $220+.Assuming 2 high performance, 2 mid-performance, 2 low-performance, a six-ball roller, some shoes and accessories, bowling equipment costs around $2000.
...just something that crossed my mind when the guy was talking about his equipment being stolen

Yeah, all you have to do is pay for plug and drill, for 6 balls at most proshops in the area thats somewhere in the 250-300 dollar range if you get everything plugged and redrilled. Not to mention the fact that if my stuff was stolen, I would call up every pro shop in a 500 mile radius with my serial numbers, so they would have to take the balls somewhere out of state to get them drilled.
Isn't it easier to just break into a house and steal a few grand in stuff/money and buy the equipment if you are that much of a bowler? maybe drug dealing? Or better yet, just work a friggin job, its a much better return in the long run. And plus, I would say 6 balls are only worth 400-500 drilled, so the chance of getting caught just isn't worth it in my book.

I called the local pro shops to put in the names of the balls that were taken that day, and gave them serial numbers. SO hopefully they will turn up, but it has been a week, I am probably S-O-L. Live and learn I guess. I guess I expected more of people in the bowling community.

Not as bad as golfers... I've had many friends get clubs stolen, and I've had my putter and driver both stolen at one point or another.
