What is the strongest overall drilling for the GP2? I'm talking Heavy oil - floods.

It would depend on your PAP, but I have a GP2, factory surface, pin by ring-cg kicked toward VAL, mass bias on my VAL, and this puppy is a monster! My GP2 started with a 3 inch pin, pin, cg, mass bias were are in a straight line when I started.

I agree with Clint if you want even more put a wt. hole on
your val drill to 1/2 oz neg. pitch the hole 1 1/4 away.
Should hook on an ice rink.

Wylie,

Pin in the leverage position and 1 3/4- 2 inches above your midline, MB on your VAL.

This drilling on this ball is VERY strong, yet it still backends very well!

Hey Wylie,

For a true flood, I'd go with Ex's suggestion of a leverage pin and mb on or past val. You might also want to take the cover down to match the amount of oil you'll see. Hope this helps some...

Keep in mind how much of a oil monster the ball is. As someone who has had a intense experience with the GP2 and having consulted the wounderful Track staffers, I came to the conclusion I needed to tame the ball down. Mine was drilled for max leverage and was just burning out on me. I tried to use the ball on slop and did not consider the true nature of the ball till I got more educated on the equipment. People as did I read oh this ball is a hook monster and think oh I need that it will work on anything. Well it will not! You must find the right match up for ure style of bowling and u must have the right lane conditions. I used to think this ball is rated at X as a hook rate and that just ment it would hook. Figured I could open up the lanes witht he ball play like 25 to 8 and have it come back. If I shoot my GP2 anywhere outside of 10 it uses too much energy and just either leaves a mess or never makes it back to the head pin. If you are looking for that snappy brake towards the pocket I would go with the Rule not the GP2. I only suggest this cause of the cover stock being resin and not high load particle. I have bought a Vertigo yes I know sorry gave in cause I can not find someone around here in Jersey who really knows Track's equipment. The Vertigo because of its resin allows me to shoot the ball around 7,6,5 and it will make a brake for the pocket. I wish I bought the Rule but bad experiences with a driller and mass confusion pushed me to a company that many drills around here throw and drill.

Question to EX, Clint, srlunatic, tenpinspro, etc regarding MY layout on this ball (planning to get one within a month):

Check my profile for PAP and other info to determine ... I would like recommendations for a strong forward roll layout for heavy oil/tourney conditions. What PIN and top wgt would work best for such a layout

Is the in box coverstock a match for this layout

If not, what grit should it be mainatin at and also, what is the best way to maintain that condition (cleaning). Thanx in advance,guys ... I'm going with just TRACK and RoroGrip stuff currently; they suit my game.

Robb,

I would suggest about the same layout for you as well.

Place the pin in the leverage position (3 3/8 from PAP), keep it lower to your midline though, 1 1/2 above your midline. Place the MB 1/4 right of your VAL. This will get the ball started up early for you which is what you are going to need on a heavier shot.
The OOB surface should be enough, but you will not know for sure until you try it. I would try a heavier shot with that finish before adjusting it. If you try it and it is not enough, get back to us and we will be able to help you get the proper surface adjustment.

Cleaning technique: Clean n Dull, grey scotchbrite pad(or worn green pad). Put the Clean n Dull directly onto the scotchbrite and wipe half of the ball in small circular motions. Let it sit on the ball for 20-30 seconds then wipe it off with a dry towel. Do this to the other side as well. This will keep the surface at whatever grit it was at before it started to take in oil and dirt.
