Having issues with my favorite drill....
« on: September 19, 2005, 12:34:40 AM »
Unfortunately after dissecting my game through LOTS of practice this past weekend with a few different balls, I finally found the piece of my timing I have been missing to my game, but my track has raised up even more and I am clipping the fingers and thumb on the balls I threw that had my favorite drill (pin under ring, cg palm, mass bias left of thumb)..I had to throw my GP2 with pin above ring and GP2 with the pin even with my ring (and it even tried to clip my thumb hole) just to avoid thumping the ball. I know I could always try to come around the ball a little, but I have ALWAYS tried to chicken wing it when doing so....so...it looks like I am regulated to a few balls until my track comes down or I need to sell the stuff I have (5 balls I haven't even thrown yet-Phenom,Havoc,Untamed,Rule,Animal) and get new stuff with the pin above the ring.....

What do you guys think I should do...wait it out and keep my stuff or get rid of it and drill new?

Yes, it is. When you swing the mass bias toward your VAL/PAP, the track does lower down a little....however, I really like the overall reaction I get out of the ball with the mass bias in that area...the GP2 I have drilled with the pin above the ring, cg in palm, mass bias left of thumb gives me the nice read I had with my favorite drill GP2 with an extra little kick on the back, something that is not bad for someone like me.

Wait it out bud.  There's no reason you can get your track to come down a bit.  Even with the timing issue you should be able to tweak your hand position a bit.  Don't forget you have thrown a 300 the old way so it may not be all bad.

I changed my timing last season and thought it was the right thing to do.  I was wrong because this season I went back to my old approach.

DPat...

You hit it on the head...I have a GP2 drilled pin under bridge, cg kicked out and mass bias almost on my VAL and it misses the fingers and just barely (and I mean barely-1/16 of an inch or less) it misses my thumb. The pin above the ring is not hitting, but is even higher than the track I used to have, which is amazing to me because I haven't changed anything, I know of......Thus the reason why I have decided to get rid of my current stuff and get new stuff drilled above the ring.

Clint,

Keeping the MB left of your thumb is probably every bit as much of the thump problem as the pin being low.

Couldn't agree more guys!

Just a shame my game did this to my track AFTER I punched out all of my new stuff.

You might want to think about playing with finger pitches (more reverse in ring maybe?) to see if you can adjust your roll that way.
