Equation vs 5.0
« on: September 05, 2006, 01:52:20 AM »
Hey guys,

I have a 5.0 that I've been using on and off for a year or so.  I'm at the point where it has made its' way back into my league bag.  However, I'm very intrigued by the Equation.  I got to throw Rick's (tenpinspro) a few times and loved the reaction I saw.  How would you compare the two?  Which would you prefer as a medium ball?  Thanks in advance for the info.

Hey KG,

When it comes to the heavier side of mediums I would go with the 5.0, everything else below those types of conditions I see the Equation handling veyr well. Although I can attest that the Equation is the first ball out of the bag every night of league for me! I have been pushing the Equation since its release...a very nice piece of equipment for the price...hope this helps some buddy! God Bless You and have a great week!

Thanks for the info Michael!

When I threw the Equation, it seemed to hold on the backend and wasn't jumpy.  For me, the 5.0 tends to jump on the backend at times as I don't have the speed a lot of bowlers do (I throw around 14mph).  Do you feel the same?  My 5.0 seems to hook quite a bit on mediums, but it could be that I need to tweak the cover a bit.

I like the Equation for more of a true medium ball than the 5.0. The Equation is longer....and probably a tad more angular in the backend.

Hey kgee,

The Equation is a very nice piece.  It's good that you got to try it and see for yourself.

Here's the good one he didn't say guys, he didn't want to mess with my tape but he threw my Mean Machine once, it hung on his thumb, went out to the OB (about 4-5 board), continued to slide about 51-52 feet and went screaming left for a STRIKE!...LOL

His eyes just opened wide like that little boy at Christmas and I thought I saw a spec of saliva forming near his mouth....  All he could say was WOW!...

Aw Rick, you had to go and describe my awestruck response to the Mean??? LOL  That ball is insane!  The Equation was a very nice piece too and like you said, the inserts weren't my size and the tape wasn't tailored for me, but I got very nice reaction from both of those balls.  I'm still debating on if the 5.0 can stay in the bag, but I'm giving it first dibs tomorrow for my first league night.  I think it's inevitable that I'll pick up the Mean and possibly the Equation too...never ends huh? hahahaha
