Heat Blast help...
« on: October 17, 2006, 07:47:03 AM »
hey guys, in the past couple of weeks, I've started to develop more and more hand/revs.  My Equation was perfect a month and a half ago when I didn't put as much on the ball, but now its starting to be a little too much for the dry shot at my house.  Its starting to hook towards the head pin rather than the pocket unless I put more muscle into the ball.

I want to get a Heat Blast (hopefully this deal goes down in the sale forum) and drill it to play straight up the 5-10 boards.  My Equation is drilled 4x2 with pin above ring finger and I like to play 15 board to 5 board and back though my real comfort zone is straight up the 5-10 boards.

Can you guys suggest a drill pattern for a Heat Blast?

Although they're very different in design, the Heat Blast is not exactly 2 or 3 steps weaker than the Equation, AFAIK. In fact, it's more like 1/4 - 1/2 step less ball, at most. Not sure if this is the best choice to do what you want. Wait til Carl or Rick or Clint confirm or deny this idea.

The heat blast in our area is a very strong solid!

Actually acts like a light load particle solid in my eyes!
Very similar to my Shock Zone!

STRONG on medium heavy oil.

Wow, I didn't think it was that strong of a ball, so I thank you guys for your input.  I think I have my Equation drilled pretty strong so maybe that 5x4 drilling would give me that added foot of length.  I was looking at the core of the heat blast and it is very similar to that of the Equation, just without the nugget.

Hopefully Clint or Rick can chime in later and give more insight before I go any further, but thanks to those so far who have put in.

Yeah, the heat blast is actually alot of people's benchmark balls.

I would say something towards the blue heat or original heat to get what you are looking for.

Hell, maybe even a Solution PP EX or Solution PP

Hmm, so i guess the Heat Blast with a weaker drill wouldnt be a good choice?  Its too bad Track doesn't have anything to go under the Heat Blast.  All of their weaker equipment has been discont'.

An acquaintance claims his blue heat is his strongest ball for oil.

The Desert heat is better for up the boards.

Really, any ball that is drilled weakly for going up boards like that would work.

you can still find the other stuff pretty easily though

bowlingball.com has the Solution PP EX i know, they might have the other ones also, also check with Clint, he might have some of the older balls also

and there is always ebay, which you can find about any ball NIB that has come out in the last 2-3 years

I agree, the heat blast was a much stronger ball than i anticipated. I drilled mine weak, and it was still very strong on the THS!!

While the Equation is overall more ball, these guys are on the $$..the Blast and Equation share the same core (Equation has a nugget added to make the rg lower and kick more) and the cover is stronger, but more skid/flip....

I can still get Deserts from my dist...all weights!

Noy, your Equation is drilled 4X2 right?? Its a strong drill so, either another Equation or Blast with a 5X4 drill will be alot different and weaker for ya. This will make a big difference.

Thats what I was thinking.  But what would be better, a medium oil ball drilled for dry, or a true dry oil ball?

Also, would a true dry oil ball have to be drilled strong to make it move on the conditions it was made for?

Hey Noy,

You can't go wrong with heat Blast but I would recommend something diffent than getting a new ball.

1. Since you got more hand on the ball nowaday, have you try throw the ball out a few feet like toward the arrow?

2. Finger dancing? Instead spreading your finger out like normal put them together and do your thing or put you finger together and fold your pinky?

3. Hold the ball normal, at release bend you hand backward. Or your palm should be at 3 o'clock at release.

Good Luck...

Hehe, I've done all of that and have had success to an extent.  But getting a new ball is just so much more fun =)  You would be happy to know that today I had to resort to different hand and finger positions due to the Equation being to strong.
