How is your Animal holding up?

To Animal users, how is your Animal holding up?  I will be starting a sport league this summer with rotating conditions and the heavy one is going to be first on brand new HPL-Synthetics(so it's going to play LONNNNNG!).  I was thinking of just going overkill and drilling up the biggest piece I could find for it, and just holding onto it in the rare instance I find oil in the future.

Has anyone experienced coverstock problems with this ball? I know most "oilers" have the tendency to quit after awhile, especially after oil absorbtion but has anyone seen this with the animal cover?

Hey DP3,

I have an Animal and to answer your question, mine is holding up great! Even though my Rule GP2 sees more action on the heavier stuff, the Animal is great go to ball when the GP2 is really jumpy while my Animal is more tamer but still gets through the thick goo. I believe particle coverstocks need more critical care because of more oil they absorb than your reactive shells. I believe your Animal will have longevity as long as proper maintenance and cleaning is done!

DP3: No issues with my Animal, and I've been lucky enough to use mine for about 120 games this season between both houses I bowled regular leagues in as well as tournaments without losing any reaction. I clean them regularly after every set and I'd have to say overall Track's coverstocks are made to last...

Mine's holding up great, too, but I only have about 15 games on it.  Just had it taken down to 600 grit this weekend to see if that will stop it from jumping so much, but haven't thrown it yet.  I Clean 'N Dull my stuff weekly (with other cleanings in between), so I anticipate I won't be having any problems....

DP3: Hey there, I echo the same results as everyone else. I now have just about 25 games on this ball and it's doing great. I also clean my ball with Clean N' Dull and paper towels/small terry cloth after every set. I believe this is vital in maintaining the coverstock. Do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of Clean N' Dull! Good luck out there...

I no longer have any of my Animals, but a buddy bought one of mine. All of the games I put on it, plus he bowls 3-4 nights a week and the ANimal is his only ball. He has not lost reaction. So you will be safe.

I don't have a ton of games on mine, but it still rolls and hits like new.  I knocked off the factory shine with a few minutes on a Haus machine and applied Doc's Elixir.  FWIW, my Aminal looks very ordinary on a house shot, but really wakes up on a flatter pattern.
