Help from older track ball
« on: December 01, 2008, 01:07:25 AM »
Hi Track bowlers,

I need some help...

Stats:
275rpm
15mph
4 3/4" -> 3/4" up.

I'm looking for a ball that will be best suited for heavy oil conditions, I prefer to play the track area but will move in with something weaker when I open up the lane with my new heavy oil ball.

The options I have are...

Robo Rule
Power Machine
Machine
Xception 5.0
Blue Heat

I want a ball that sets up early but will still hook on the backend giving me a strong smooth shape.

Which ball would be best suited??

I think the Robo Rule, don't know enough to just go for it though.

Thanks

Robo Rule followed by Blue Heat - may have to scuff the RR if it is OOB at 1500 wet/dry depending on the amount of oil present

Remember Gary the Robo Rule was around a 800 finish out of box. I think it was 800 sheen but still 800. I do think you may want it a little duller if you want it for soup.

As much as I love the PM, for what you're looking for I'd take the Robo.  Hands down.

BBR archives say 800 sheen, but the balls.xls spreadsheet said 1500 - my bad. I agree with Scoot.

Thanks very much guys!! Is the Blue Heat really THAT strong to be considered close to the Robo?

I think we're going for the Robo, 4 1/4 x 20 val 55 mb.

Looks a cool colour

Thanks RevO, I was pretty confident the blue heat wouldn't be the true oiler I was looking for.

The guys range looks awesome right now, a great 6 ball set up to combat most(all) lane conditions.

Robo Rule
Black Widow
Power Machine
Fired Up 2
Razyr
Plastic

Thanks for your help guys!!

If you go by out of box finish on these balls the Blue Heat is the next strongest on oil. However, if you sand them all down to the same grit the robo rule might start up the quickest but it will roll more then flip. The Machine is the next strongest. When sanded the Machine can roll every bit as early as you would need but because of its pearl cover it also flips over more. Those two are the two strongest balls by far in the list of balls you asked about.

I agree with the amount of hook but dissagree with wich balls to select. I go more with the quality of the balls over the total hook. The Powermachine is the best of the bunch and will be a big hooker with surface. The Blueheat would be my next choice and is good on oil and the 5.0 is a very good ball on oil with surface but with more a more angular backend motion.

Robo Rules don't hit nearly as consistenty as the powermachine and would not carry one unless it is a favorite and you have confidence in it.
