Title: Help me decide....
Post by: Rock77 on September 22, 2005, 12:52:50 AM
Ok guys, I am bowling my first tourney of the year this Sunday. It will be my first tournament in a long time so my nerves are getting to me a bit. I know I need to calm down and relax, especially if I am looking to score well.

Now, on to the topic. I have never bowled in this house before so I dont know what the shot will be like. I am looking to carry 6-8 balls with me and cant decide which ones to take. See my profile for my arsenal and let me know which ones I should bring. I want to be prepared for any condition. The only balls I am positive about bringing are as follows:

Blue Heat
Mutant Mania
Desert Heat
Spare Ball

That leaves 4 more balls that I can carry, which 4 and why??

The other four I would take would be:

GP2 - In case of a flood
Xception - To open up the lane if need be and give a different look
FAZ or Slash - For Control
Heat? - gives you something between the Desert and the others

Just My $.02

Hope you do good!

I like 3 of those, but wanted to clarify that the Mutant Mania is a control ball for me. The Slash isn't a control ball because of the drill on it. And the FAZ isn't drilled as of yet and am not sure if I can get it drilled in time for the tourney so I am opting to stay away from those balls. I do like the other 3 though. Lets see what others have to say.

GP2
5.0
Original X

The only thing missing that to me is a huge hole is a strong reactive ball, such as the Reactive or Delta which you just ordered. If you could get one of them drilled, add it. If not, I would select the Slash.

Clint, what if I drilled up my Untamed?? Would that be a good substitute for that slot??

Hey Rocker,

1) GP2 to handle more heavier oil than the Blue Heat
2) Arsenal Angular because it should offer you that skid/flip reaction in case the shot allows you to open it up some.  I would've said the 5.0 but with the mb left of thumb, the ball is more controlled now and is a little close to the MM IMHO.
3) Xception to fill the gap between your MM and Desert
4) Heat to go in between the Xception and Desert also

With these 4 (and along with your other 4), you will at least have covered most of the various oil concentrations you may encounter with their surfaces alone.  That's what I'm thinking bud....go whack'em ROCK!

Rock,

The Untamed is a good ball, but was never the strong resin ball I wanted it to be. The Untamed also backs off on carrydown, which after a few games you might see.
