« on: August 16, 2006, 06:37:24 AM »
Wat it do guys. The last two tournaments I've been in I have been Top Qualifer or 2nd shooting real good series. But after that my game just falls apart for some reason and miss the cut.I feel that i am doing everything the same mechnical wise but i am beginning to think its a mental thing.Does anybody have any tips to stay mentally strong or just stay focused on my game????

What are things you can control? They're your emotions, your thoughts and your mechanics. Just relax and concern yourself with each shot. The basic cliches are the best. Remember that if you qualified to be there, you deserve to be there. You can not do anything about opposition so don't worry about them. Take care of #1.

what i notice about myself in those situations is i rush and in doing so i make bad decisions. So what i did to combat my rushing ,getting over anxious and ancy is to tell myself, its my time ,relax ,its mt time. Over and over in my head until i set at the line . This calms me down gives me the opportunity to process what i want to do ,lets me feel comfortable with what i am about to do and in doing this i am also confident in what i have decided to do . When i dont do this i dont execute when i do i shoot well, believe it or not i havent been doing it lately and i have started to go back into bad habits.
Find some mental routine some mindset that you can take yourself to that will take off all the pressure you are trying to put on yourself, all the pressure is made up so combat it with positive outlook and a calming reasuring mindset. Remember the little engine that could ,its the same principle.

Hey Willie,

If you want, we can go down to the lanes tomorrow and work on some stuff..however, ya gotta let me know what you feel uncomfortable with so we can try and match ideas together and come up with a solution together. I think you maybe feeling this way too because this is your first fall adult league. The pressure was there for me when I moved up also.

On a side note, our Tuesday night team I feel, is going to be a good solid unit buddy! Anyways, call me bro! God Bless You and have a great week!

Go out and practice...only once you have set yourself in your stance....GO!!!! Do not get into your stance and think too much.

I echo everything said so far, get up and bowl, dont concern yourself with scores. What happens is you start to press, swing gets a little tight, and BOOM you cant pry it off your hand. Thats how you sqaunder leads and cashing spots.
