help on oily ths
« on: February 02, 2007, 02:23:06 AM »
Fairly new bowler, I just started out bowling about a year ago and joined a league about 2months ago. My league is on amf wood lanes and the oil pattern is fairly medium i would suppose. I carry a 224 avg on this house. I have been subbing on league on synthetic lanes that seem to have no dry boards anywhere to be found. No outside, no backend my balls just never recover from any line and i struggle in the middle with carry. avg is about 175 on this as i leave alot of splits. I have a track heat blast, track strike machine, columbia shock, and dynothane vendetta sniper....have a track blue heat being shipped now......any ideas that may help? I could use any advice on this condition

Synthetic Lanes are speed sensitive. So slow your speed down, I average 225 on my first game with with the Strike Machine and by the second game I switch to the Machine which seems to handle the transition well. I hope that helps. P.S. The Blue Heat is an Excellent ball for oil on Synthetic Lanes.

Thanks for the response...i have tried slowing down my speed some. Normally im about 15mph med to high rev player. on this i have dropeed to 14 and even 13.5 and still no grip. Its really sad seeing a ball you payed alot for not be able to react anymore than a house ball lol. The strike machine is my best drier lane ball for some reason. drilled aggressive but it needs to find dry boards for me. Has anyone changed the cover surface on this and any suggestions as this ball is the ball i use the least right now on league

The Blue Heat is definately a step up in oil handling ability compared to the others. It revs up quick....and doesn't stop when used on the proper amount of oil. I would have it drilled to give you everything it has. Have the pin placed 3 3/8 from PAP about 2-2 1/4 inches above your midline.....stack the CG directly below. This layout will give you a strong early roll and not sacrifice a whole lot of backend.

You may need to adjust the surface.....on synthetics people seems to do better with a dull finish.
